Default Gen3 SBE strength

Hey all ,
I know this has been discussed probably 100 times already somewhat. but after mucking around with the terminator X system for a few months decided will put it on actual dyno and get it tuned. never had good luck with dynos here but trying again.
basically im just asking how should I get them to tune the car.
tell them a max boost I want ?
tell them how much power I want ?

car is 99% street car, not a daily. it might see the track once or twice ever. so really will only get a few top gear burnouts and a few launches in first gear etc .

setup is:
325 gen3 sbe, had motor apart new bearings , rings , honed
BW S480 ,80comp, 96ex, 1.25ar, t4
eboost2 elec control
862 heads, ls7 lifters
btrS2 turbo cam matching springs
mls head gasket
arp head studs , main studs, rod bolts.
120lb injectors , twin 044 bosch pumps
running e85 , which seems to be 80% ethanol at my local.
w2a IC
coan glide, 3.55 rear
termX ecu

currently I just run 10psi boost and I think I have a peak of about 16* timing there.
ideally I would like 550rwhp , not sure if that would last very long.

??

Rev as high as your cam will let you, keep timing/torque mild until about 4500-5k and then pour it on.
Your timing is kinda low for E85 as is.

I would dyno it at the 10 lbs you have now and see what you've got. You may already have over 550 rwhp. I have a friend that beat on his gen 3 5.3 for a couple years at 800 rwhp in a heavy GTO. Tons of street racing both dig and roll, track visits, dyno pulls, etc. He recently cranked it up to over 1000 rwhp and it didn't last another week.

I've ran 30 lbs boost with gen 3 6.0l over 1000hp and still going to this day. It will handle easy what your doing. I ran 14lbs on completely stock except for fuel and injectors 5.7 c5 for many yrs. I missed shift and bye bye. Just make sure tune is on point and you will be fine.

I've made 900+ wheel through a glide on a sbe gen 3 5.3 . Pulled out out running for my forged engine . That was like 30 psi from a s488

So ill just tell them to set it up as hard as it will go then.
20psi of boost, and just see what it makes there.

That thing is begging for another 10 to 15 psi. Tell them to creep up on timing and pull a plug or 2.

Worse that can happen is you have to stick gen 4 internals into and then not have to worry lol.

Keep an eye on the Summit Racing stuff. Several guys here have their engines together and are beating on them. So the results will be coming in soon. Mavn's has been been doing well so far.

As mentioned, don't get greedy below 4500. Pull all plugs to know what's going on and which hole is running the hottest.

Summit pistons and rods are the best bang for your buck .

Yes you can read plugs.

pull 1 plug when car is hot

Put new one in

Go make a hit

Shut off immediately

read it

Mavn, which plug reads the hottest in your setup?

For race car stuff and running higher octane fuels it's very difficult. But on pump gas street car stuff I've had good success with reading plugs even after plenty of miles driven assuming oil isn't getting in the chamber. You can tell heat in the threads, signs of speckling on the porcelain, and timing on the ground strap because normal driving won't wipe them away. You just can't really tell fuel base ring or fueling around the top of the threads. It's not exact but it's certainly good enough to give you an idea of what's going on.

I built a 402 using their pistons. Doing good on waste gate with a BW S475 in a full size truck so far.

+1 for the summit racing rotating assembly. Another option is a new shortblock which have become super affordable, and sell your stock one.

I've been running the Compstars and Wiseco pistons since 2015. She's seen just shy of 30psi (29.xx) once but has been raced hundreds of times in the 20's(21 - 24). Typical street is 18psi, just because it spins the M/T DR's and the Nitto NT05rs (315/35/17) even at 14.5psi. Like the guys are saying, if you keep it fueled adequately and keep the timing sensible, she'll likely do stellar. I have HPTuners and most days when I drive the car, I have it hooked up and scan/log what she's doing an tweak it if something shows up as rich or lean or spark retard/knock.

Sounds like you have a good foundation!
