Question Help choosing a turbo for a daily

Hello my turbo freinds im building a daily driver / weekend warrior 4.8 with a 4l80 behind it. stock comp with a sumit 8715 ghost cam, springs, push rods, and summit pro series converter (2600-2800 stall). Looking to get 500-600hp (plus some extra room to grow) out of it. The turbos im looking at are the VS racing 72/65 billet, 76/65 billet, or the 7875 cast .96ar trying to stay in the $500 range. Came across some borg warner units to but they seemd on the small side. This is my first turbo V8 build im use to doing 4 cly cars.

Thanks

I'd go billet 7665. It'll light off super fast and be fun on the street with a 4.8. Go with the .96AR. Power won't be as big up top, but it'll sure be fun around town. There won't be much head room though. If you want head room, I would go bigger like a billet 7875 off ebay for $280.

agreed 7875 will be a little lazier with the 4.8. but if you want room to grow 7875.

How much room do you want to grow over 600? Nice thing about the 4.8 is you can spin it to the moon.

Get a dual vband turbine if you want fast spool, the .96 dual vband 7875 unit below is $555 for billet and $439 if you want cast, either will meet you needs and then some and comes with flanges.

Yes the 7665 will put you in the 5-600 range. The 7875 will add several hundred hp of head room, but its going to light off noticeably slower than the 7665.

They have a billet 66/73 .91 AR as well in the $500 price point. That would be temping on a 4.8L in that power range, faster spool and still rated at 875hp (750whp).

Looks like the VSR Gen2 billet 69/73 is on sale for $509 at the moment.

You should pick up the 69 and let the rest of us know how she does on a 4.8

My Forced Inductions S480 / 87mm in the Classifieds would have good manners and performance on that Engine. Low IATs at 700 rwhp because we all know he isn't going Turbo and 550-600!

I'd put a 76/75 CEA Precision or one of a bunch of variants of the 78/75 on that one otherwise.

The summit converter says its rated to 600hp, curious how much the slip increases as you turn up the power should you go much above that. I think sloppy has messed with the jegs converters a bit but they are rated at 800hp.

Dang wish i saw the jeg converters before i got the summit one might have to look into those. My current goal is 500 to start and see how that is.

lol, you wont stay at 500hp long. I say skip all the bs and get the 7875....you'll end up going to it later anyways and if you have the afr and timing dialed in good transitioning to boost, it'll still light off plenty fast enough. My 5.3 with the same cam and a 7875 has almost no lag once i figured out it like alot of timing right before going into boost. I think your stall is too small though. I have a 3600 and its just right. Drives like stock.
