In the instance of my failure I had a maxed out turbo with high backpressure, lots of pops and bangs, and beat on all the time and it lasted a few months. In another example I saw one blow completely apart while on the two step on a 5.3L with a larger turbo, we literally put beer cans around it to finish the event so it didnt torch the engine bay. Even the bellows posted above backpressure has made them expand and those are a good bit stiffer than the braided joints but at least with overlapping pipes inside they don't typically blow out or send pieces into the turbo. So now I prefer solid mounting if I can, haven't had any issues with that.
Thanks for sharing, I agree lots of variables, especially around usage and how they are mounted. Alot of this stuff is china made too... so thats a variable by itself. Cheers!

Yes sit that is the one. Price tag is steep. Not worth the 350 bucks unless it's free like mine lol.

They come in the overhaul kit when you are in framing an engine and don't get used when you upgrade to the single pdi turbo kit all the cat guys seem to want these days so I keep them to use on other kits.

That heavy bellow is like what JD uses between staged twins also.

I used flex couplers from Columbia Mandrel bends. Bellows on the inside, braid on the outside. As was shown to fail in a prev post.
Been on the car since 2013.
my turbo is solid mounted to the frame. So I needed to use them.
They aren’t set up in any sort of radial twist.

This post got me curious. I have the hot side off for engine removal, so I poked the bore scope in there to look.

Still perfect.
Happy to see that

Do a search for Marman Clamp. They were originally designed as a coupler for holding bombs.

Most everyone with a Borg turbo has one. However, not sure what the clamp has to do with an exhaust flex section.

I'm under the impression they can be attached to any piping. Maybe they'd be overkill on the exhaust.
