Default Turbo sizing for 427

Looking for good a good TT size, that won't have give that much lag, and won't run out of breathe up top for a 427.

LSX based or LS7 based 427 and what vehicle? In my case I'm looking at the F1A Procharger kit or the Huron Speed APS twin turbo kit and just go with the largest ones they offer which should be plenty.

What heads are on it? What rear gear? What RPM will you turn it too. Is it mostly street? Do you roll race or run it at the strip?

I second the Aps style twin turbo kit. I wish there was an example of the 67/66 turbos on here to see what’s possible. I’m definitely going this route with my next build.

Yeah, need a lot more info like motor details, intended use/goals, fuel type.

As an example I'm running a pair of Gen2 Precision 6870s on an LS7 based 427 solid roller setup and they are about done at 26-28 psi of boost on ethanol.

At minimum i would 78/75 / 76/75, basically with anything that has larger turbine than 75mm. I would do something like a s400 chassis with a 83mm turbine wheel. Another good option would be the G140S 7975 from WORK Turbo.

So you are trying to package this into a C6 Z06? Are you sticking them out of the hood? Trying to mount them low? Exhaust out the rear? The packaging in the C6 Z06 is going to be your big hurdle and turbo sizing will be highly dependent on what you are trying to do with it. Technically I should be running larger turbos on mine BUT I already had to cut, grind, and modify a ton of **** just to put 6870s down low so I could keep exhaust going out to the rear and not have them sticking out of the hood.

NicD, do you have any pics of yours anywhere? Just curious. Love seeing how guys do the vettes. I've seen some guys pull the fenders and put them in there, seems crazy.

Trying to have the stealth look as much as possible. I know the engine bay is cramped as it is, and I know that's going to limit a lot.

I only have a couple from when it was under construction still, I really don't think you can fit anything larger in this location and putting them in the fenders doesn't really buy you any more space and then I would have had to get rid of my dry sump tank which was a no go.

OK so for the stealth look you are pretty much stuck to having them where I put them or putting them in the fenders but then you lose your dry sump tank, assuming you have a C6 Z06. Space constraint is going to be your biggest obstacle and biggest limiting factor for turbo sizing and it will be a compromise and you MUST pay close attention to heat mitigation as well.

Fender route is nice, but snaking the pipes through seems like a PITA...

This guy on YouTube did that... clean install.

The only problem is that it really doesn't buy you anything as far as being able to run larger turbos, etc and then the piping challenges of running exhaust out to the rear makes it not fun either. I believe RPM did a turbos in the fender build a while ago as well and it looks cleaner. I will say that getting to certain things are a bit easier in the fenders though but if you want to retain your dry sump tank it's not going to be an option.

Still not really enough info to give a good recommendation on but I would do a pair of S485/96's on a 427 personally. Do a smaller tighter exhaust housing if you are worried about spool or the larger housing if you want to make big power.

I swear, I always think I have it bad trying to fit all my junk together, until I see these builds. I think that's why I enjoy them so much, because I know how much work it is to make it all fit, and function and still look nice!

Really liked how this guy setup the twins on his vette, my not be applicable or solve the size issue but I thought it worth mentioning.
