Default Aeromotive a1000 question

Posted in the fuel section but figured I'd post here too. I've had this a1000 laying around for awhile. Anybody run one on their cars on the street? Did you use a pump speed controller at all? Kinda wanna use what I have laying around. I plan on going turbo'd soon so I know it's enough pump to handle the demand. Thank you for any help/info

Have an intake setup on a C6. Tried running it full time with a Easy speed controller but it still flowed too much and over heated the fuel (C6 tanks are dual set up and only 9 gallons each side). It's now only switched on at 4# of boost and up.

They are poor boosted EFI pumps. They don't flow well at pressure and they get hot with constant duty. You could use something like a AEM400 and use the A1000 as a parallel pump that only activates under boost. That way it won't get hot.

But honestly another AEM400 blows the a1000 outa the water. I'd just run 2 of them and sell the a1000.

I keep hearing nothing but positive things about the AEM 400 pumps. It's the one I am going to use for now in my external hobbs setup.

Longest trip I've taken with a A1000 was 35 minutes 30 miles and had no issue

I will not be. On Corvettes (C5 C6 anyways) they usually are fed by a bulkhead fitting. That pump is designed to pull it's own fuel anyways per their website.

Looking at the the AEM400 versus the Walbro 450 and the AEM is clearly the better pump as @Forcefed86 has stated.
The AEM pulls 5 amps less at like pressure at 70psi and doesn't fall off nearly as fast as the 450's do above 70 psi.
Fortunately for me I'm at a 45psi base and don't plan on running more than 25lbs. but if your total fuel pressure will eclipse 70-80psi then the AEM is the way to go.

Aeromotive really isn't that good.. People sure seem to think they are though. The A1000 isn't a very good pump and I have seen my friend stranded on the side of the road with his twice.
