Forced inductions, bullseye, precision all make good turbos. However what's the budget and goals? It wont take anything special to max out a 5.3.

I’m am a young 22 year old kid looking to learn and Edgar to get into this LS stuff . I’m not a millionaire but I’m not hurting for money . I’m just looking for something good and reliable. I don’t want the best but I don’t want the worst . I want something good and right in the middle kinda more toward the higher end . Goal is 5-7 hp.

May I have your opinion on a stock bottom end also ? Is it reliable? Can it hold 5-7 hp without any problem ?

There are many builds that are well documented here. Your goals are realistic.

You can search the Forced Induction forum as well as the Conversion forum. Here is my build:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...ld-70-gto.html

It would be useful to know what kind of vehicle you are working on.

PLENTY of good turbos out there but i would suggest vs 78/75 or similar from forced performance, they both have great balance of cost ,reliability, and hp. a quick search will reveal 78/75 meets a lot of different goals .

I bought 2 66/68s Garretts from Turbokits.com. There are videos on youtube and apps you can find that can tell you the ideal turbo size to run. If you want to run twins run the same conversion as if your engine was a 2.6-2.7 liter 4 cylinder (so for each bank). I did mine for a 3.1-3.2 liter 4 cylinder since I've got a 383 (6.3 liters). I think asking "what's the best turbo" is not going to be particularly productive, Garrett, Precision, Borg Warner, and the rest of the well known brands are all likely going to be fine. Just stay away from Ebay turbos unless you want to run them as an experiment.

I used this video specifically as he has compressor maps and what values to plug in for them.

My build thread is long so I'll just recap. I'm racing a 3200 (with me) combo, stock 5.3 that just had been taken apart for inspection and ring gaps were checked. I run a Baker turbo cam ~ 230/236 and have made whatever power it takes for me to run 9.2@150.

I would go with a mid frame T6 turbo, maybe a 76 to a 80, would make 700HP easy and you can turn it up which we all end up doing. My BW FIS 95/96 1.32 T6 mid frame is good to 1100 I think.

IMHO the 7875 is probably the best all-around, bang for the buck turbo.
Best price, most versatile, easiest to package, fast spooling, and will meet the needs of the vast majority of what people are looking for.
With that said, I would still heed John's advice, a lot of folks buy the 7875, lean on it, find its limits, and then end up spending a lot more money upgrading to a T6 setup when they should've started there to begin with.
I speak from experience in this case, my last car was a 7875 six speed car, it was great, made 700whp, but left me wanting more and that 75mm exhaust wheel and smaller T4 flange was going to hold things back.
So rather than tear that car down and ruin a good combination, I sold it and bought my current car already built around an S484.
Live and learn I guess.
