Just ordered mine today. I am getting the same turbo setup. I hope to have it setup by the end of August. Hoping to run 6 pounds of boost. I will keep everybody informed.

unfortunately I could not get a concrete answer.

Only "pretty fast"

this is one of my goals about getting as much info out as I can to help others.

I know we have a few people with kits on here yet nobody has or will post up I see X-psi at Y-rpm

Very frustrating.

Their has been some posts of the STS kits and dyno graphs before. The STS kit spools very similar to the Supras with the same turbo. The added pipe length adds greatly to lag since alot of the heat energy is lost from the long travel.

I don't think that is entirely true.
As there is a local guy to me with the base STS kit and it spools by 2800rpm
I think we are going to find alot of different variables make for alot of different spool times.

With a small enough turbo and 346ci's you can spool it up at 2800rpms. Heck my supra spools the first turbo at 2000rpms....doesn't tell you much though. On a level playing field where you get both cars with the same turbo and same exhaust housing A/R here is what you get...

This is a 346 ci LS1 with GT67 using the STS kit

This is a 183 ci Supra with the same GT67 and A/R ratio.

The simple fact is the heat loss kills spool up. A customer of mine did some testing not long ago with his turbo setup which is a conventional under the hood setup...exhaust temp at the exhaust port exit was 1450 deg. At the turbo inlet flange which was only ~24 inches of piping down stream under the hood, the temp dropped to 1000 degs. You can imagine the energy loss when it travels over 6 feet and seeing ambient temps on the piping. Also this throws compressor maps out the window since compressor maps are only useful if the turbo being used is seeing 1000-1100 deg exhaust gas.

BTW, full boost is measured at peak torque, and the LS1 peaks boost at ~4700rpms, the Supra at ~4900. A GT67 on a conventional setup and using the same A/R, would hit full boost by ~3200 on a standard setup and would not fall off that far after peak.

JZ - I am fairly new to turbos so I can't debate with ya. You may be 100% correct, I don't know. We shall see soon enough though and I will post up all the data.

John - I may go once to the track but I only run on street tires (can't afford a 12 bolt) so my times will be less than impressive. For example with my Powerdyne my best was a 13.0 but it was at 118mph.

I suspect the Turbo will be similar with high 12's and 120+ mph

the tubing comes HPC coated to retain heat, im sure if u went a step beyond and exhaust wrapped it it'd be alllllright, not the greatest obviously, but oh well

u can always spray to spool

My remedy or bandaid to the system would be to wrap the entire exhaust. This would retain the heat as much as possible to the head unit. It won't be good for longevity of the piping though, but no biggie. I would coat it as well. Our measured heat loss was with coated headers. With uncoated headers, I imagine the temp drop would have been greater. Still it will not sure the problem, but help somewhat.

they dont provide you with a whole new exhaust though, only the parts needed to replace the muffler with the turbo. if the whole exhaust was coated in that stuf(whatever it is) then you might see a difference.

Heath, good to hear bro. Rick told me you both were ordering kits this week.

Heath can give you all the technical stuff. I will give you the break downs for 1/4mile stuff since I have ZERO traction problems in 4wd and I live near Sac Raceway and plan on visiting frequently again when I get the new turbo on and tested out.
