Default ATI P-1SC or D-1

i was wondering all i have on my car is exhaust and SLP Lid. i was thinkin of maybe getting a supercharger. and tom at LS1 Speed told me that its better to get the P-1SC since it will run 7psi. and that i should get the D-1 if i plan on forging my bottom end later on. will i hurt my car if i buy the D-1 and don't build my bottom end for a while. i don't plan on boosting it more than 8 until i build another bigger motor. what do you guys think is the correct choice, any idea can help.

That is the oddest advice I have ever heard. I think the general consensus is, for the money, the D1 is the better deal. All around more efficient, more room to grow, and I can tell you that I have run it over a year with a conservative home tune with no issues. No forged block here. There's many others in the same boat. I'd spring for the D1 if I were you. Be sure to talk to SDCE before making a purchase.

Keep peaking 10psi mike and you'll see hehe...

I agree, D1SC is the way to go... trust us, you will want more boost down the road... better to get the D1SC and prepare for the inevitable.

Sd concepts is a pulley/spring tensioner setup that will help you get some big boost w/no belt slip

I got a D-1SC kit for sale if you are interested.....REALLY cheap

With what I know now....I would have went with an F1 (8 rib). Start with a big SC pulley with no slip at all and when the HP addiction gets a hold of you, you will be prepared without all the woes of getting there. I wanted 8psi on my car when I ordered my kit too then I wanted 10 psi, and then 12 psi and then I broke the stock bottom end and now I have a forged 408 and want 15 psi (though I won't get there, probably 12-14 is realistic with the 408 and a 3.4 pulley).

Sorry Bos.....D1 is still hands down better than the P1!

I'm only seeing 11psi with my 3.4" pulley on my 370 motor.......putting a bigger cam in *might* help, but I can't see it being better for achieveing more boost because of the overlap.....

I want an F1 blower with a 3.7"-3.8" pulley

Git the D1. All the way. Unless a carb# is important to you.

The D1 makes more boost earlier than the P1 and makes 2psi more at the same engine speed than the P1. When i ordered my kit i ordered the P1SC-1 which has the same curved impeller as the D1SC. But only a month later i wish i spent the extra $300 for the D1SC head unit since i decided to build a forged 383 stroker. So i sent my P1 in for the upgrade and it cost about $1,000 So don't do what i did. Go for the D1SC right off the bat. Now i really love the F1 blower. That thing is bad. I was thinking of selling my new D1SC head unit and get the F1, but for now i guess i'll just us the D1. Maybe next year ScottWS6 ran 10.30's with a F1 and was short shifting his car at 5,500 rpm just to keep it out of the 9's.!!! Now that's awesome. He told me with the right set of 8-rib pullies he could get 14psi on the F1. SDCE is the next one i'm calling for the 8-rib, belt tensioner setup. I seen a few months back that ASP was making a cog drive. Are they still making them? If so how good are they? I'm going to keep my boost to 12psi to try and stop belt slip. I'm also only running about 9.1:1 compression so next years F1 upgrade might be the way to go and up the boost Well, good luck with what ever you order but, everyone is right go for the D1SC.
