I'm surprised better heads, 2" primary long tubes, and 3+" catback are not your first priority.

Those were all things I planned to do with a new sleeved lc9 short block 388” engine. Based upon feedback here and elsewhere now Im thinking I will keep running my current ls3 forged rods/pistons engine and try to get more out of it staying Procharger.

Headers are very expensive for the gtos and really only 1 7/8 primaries are the only non custom upgrade available over my current 1 3/4 primary headers. Not sure how much that would net me. 3” catback is easy. Heads I was considering trikflow as cast through btr with powdered metal guides.

Id ask American racing headers if they could do a 2" primary. Their website is not always up to date.

People forget that we are such a small market that we went almost 2 years without even having a source for working replacement key fobs, lol. With headers you can't even count the Monaro production numbers because of the right hand drive steering shaft.

Asking a manufacturer if they offer a product is a big ask?

What's the worse thing they can say, no?

They don’t offer a 2” primary header for the GTO so yes it’s a big ask to develop one when you aren’t likely to recoup the money from building a jig.

My only point was to call and ask if they offer it. The C6 2" primary headers were available months before it was listed on their website.

Good luck on your build.

I tried looking for stockish builds using a 2650 but only find big cube race cars. I’m curious what one could do on a mild 6.0

Why not try a LS3 top end? This looks like a good deal, with an intake you'd be in business.

I got one for you. The guy who bought my GPI LS7 Small bore heads, slapped them on a SBE LS3 w/ an off the shelf BTR centrifugal cam(221/24x) with a Procharger with 4lbs of boost(that is correct) and made 635whp in a manual C6.

This blower has its place but I don’t think it’s what you’re after. You are going to spend a lot of money in heat management area when you spin one of these to all of the rpm vs the Procharger. When you finally tap the -94 I’d definitely give the -103 a try vs the f1x as it sounds like that it is similar in potential and in a smaller frame which will package much better on the GTO.

PC also allows you to retain the cathedral heads as putting adapters on heads to run the 2650 ***** out seems really counterproductive, put the correct head to match the blower port.

Id probably have to switch the springs out and watch installed height on those anyway since my cam is .621 lift and running 20 psi of boost. I also already have a btr equalizer cathedral port intake I’d have to replace.

Could swap springs and make your 241s more attractive in the used market.

But yeah, it would suck to have to eat the cost of that intake with the swap.

If I was to swap heads to trikflow fast as cast, go to 1 7/8 headers, and 3” catback how much would you think I could gain? Keep in mind im already spinning the f1a-94 beyond max recommended impeller speed. I’ve seen similar tests done with head swaps but they lost boost with less restriction and didn’t gain power until thry swapped the pulley to gain back the boost they lost. So yes the same boost level with less restriction more efficient engine made more power. I may not have the ability to gain anything by spinning the blower faster in my case though.

…or I wait until the f1r-103 comes out and get that so I can add more CFM to the equation?

It sounds like no matter what you'll end up with the bigger blower.
I'd just wait for the bigger blower, then look at heads/headers/exhaust as the bigger blower may get you where you want to go on its own.

Ok. What is the boost level that arp 8740 head studs and copper sprayed ls9 gaskets become a concern as that is what I currently have. I was curious about doing arp 2000 head studs and a different gasket if I do heads. What is the next step up from ls9 gaskets? Also should I use hylomar instead of copper spray?

I'd take a good look at Brodix BR1 13 (or MAST 295's) over the TF as cast, but I've mentioned that to you previously. Find some more monies in the budget somewhere, you can still utilize stock rockers on both I've mentioned.

As suggested, bumping up the headers and exhaust is something that can happen now and inevitably you are going to need to do so with the next powerplant. Your using street oriented exhaust setup on a race blower, use race oriented exhaust setup on a the race blower and see what it nets you in the interim.

Good question, I've read a bunch of guys on YB running the LS9 gaskets way over your power level, so I think you're good there.
If you're staying stock block, the ARP CA625 1/2" studs seem to be what a lot of guys go to with the LS9 gaskets when going all out.
ARP does a CA625 in the 7/16" stud too iirc.
