big power pcv- 3x power = ?

Default big power pcv- 3x power = ?

If I make threet times the power of a stock engine would I need pcv hoses or braided line that was 3x the size of stock to handle the crankcase pressure? Any guidelines here?

More boost, more blowby. You might have to modify the vent tubes to a larger size if your at the stock size (I think its 3/8"). I still had to put a larger O-ring on the dipstick to keep it from popping up and force the air to my catch can system. I put a pressure gauge on the dipstick tube and I got 1 lb. at 12lbs. boost but it was still enough to kick the dipstick up a little. I've got it under control now and its working well. I also have the LS6 valley cover which is where I put the P.C.V. valve.

Crank case pressure is not proportional to horsepower. You have to look at the things that are going to generate the higher pressures first. If you have wider ring gaps for instance. Harlan's braided lines are for two things. First there are two -12's that go to a vacuum pump, eliminating the need for a PCV at all. Second there is a -6 line to a breather tank to help vent pressure at idle. That has to do with his dry sump pump not drawing enough vacuum at idle without making over 100 PSI under power. If you run a real vacuum pump all of these issues go away.

If you do not, you simply need a easy way to vent the pressure. I ran a breather on both valve covers with a LS6 PCV and that worked very well. Putting a catch can in would help.

John, what specific issues are you having with your PCV setup?

I don't have any PCV at all. I am just running a breather off of one valve cover. I am hoping for 700rwhp, do you think a single breather will be sufficent Derty?

Depends on what size breather you are running. If it is a large Metco, it should be ok. If it's the Moroso recirculating breathers then you may want two. We just put one in a car that makes over 700 HP and we'll know shortly if one works ok.

I have no issues just want to kick this around. I do not pressurize my crankcase and my dipstick does not pop out.

I am running a driver's side PCV looped into the rear of my passenger side valvecover and a Metco breather as the sole breather on my system, just to clarify again.

To Erock's post above, you would ideally want vacuum and zero crankcase backpressure, I'm sure you know that. I don't really need to change my stuff but the downside of too much crankcase pressure is blowing seals and having oil leaks.
