Default Wastegate Is Off......

took the waste gate off and i can manually move the valve up and down. no sticking that i can tell as far as the waste gate goes when its off of the car. it goes up and down as smooth as a whistle. now what. is there anyother explanation that can cause an over boost or boost creep. any advice would be grand

If your getting creep and the gate is not sticking then its to small. Time to upgrade to a larger gate.

WG is leaking diaphram

Spring is bad

WG is too small

hook your WG up and unhook the boost controller like.

with whatever spring you have in the WG...it should just read to that boost level.

just buy another WG - i got one for sale < 300 miles turbonetics racegate

have you pulled it apart yet and checked the diaphram in the gate itself?

i have taken the gate apart and the diapragm looks good, to me any ways. i activated the WG manually with a pump and it seems to still be working. i mean the valve is moving when air is appilied. and the WG held fine for all nine hours i was on the dyno. it didnt mess up one time, didnt creep, spike or anything. i mean 24 hours went by and then i started having problems. anybody have bad luck with auto meter gauges i dunno what else to assume

if you put the pump on it and it actuated i have to say it is working right.

you may have to pull the manifold off of it and look for blockage in either of the two wastegate pipes.

I have both a manual boost gauge and a boost controller display... the boost controller will display 15psi while the gauge will display 16. go figure.

I dont think your blow off gas passes through your turbo like mine, but if so W2W hogged mine out and I went from 20lbs minimum to 7 lbs minimum.

After the dyno did you get it out on the street and test it and monitor it?? On the dyno it will work fine since the dyno doesn't apply a real load. Its only ~1500 lbs. On the street the car will see full load which will make the boost climb.

yeah it did fine on the street. it was breaking the tires loose at 70mph in 3rd. now it wont even turn them over in first. i now have 28in tall nitto DR's but didnt think they would make it hook that good. just dont get what is going on with it. ran like a beast one day then the next boost climbs and doesnt run worth a dime

What wastegate does your setup use?

Please explain the creep pattern you are seeing in more detail.

I'd put a pump on the wastegate and make sure it's opening properly. Maybe even test the accuracy of your gauge with the pump.

just curious, maybe I missed it somewhere but why don't you just take the car back and have it fixed? It's great to try to fix things yourself but sometimes one just has to admit I can't figure it out and take it to someone who can.

I just read a bit from the other thread.

Did i read correctly that you had to tap on the wastegate to make it work? If that's the case get a new wastegate. I've learned my lesson with using wastegates/boost controllers that don't fuction properly 100% of the time.

I agree. Even though it worked fine manually something must be going on when it's exposed to the heat. It may be slightly warped (the valve) so when you push on it when it's off the car and at ambient temperature it's fine. However, expose it to the TREMENDOUS exhaust gas heat and the valve expands and a portion of it is catching, preventing the valve from moving in it's range of motion correctly.

New WG time. Rob probably has them at the best price
