wasnt planning on getting a new WG as of yet there has got to be something going on, i mean it works as smooth as can be when i hook a pump to it. and the reason its not going back to rob just yet is due to the fact of the 75 and hour charge. guess i got to work some overtime to make up for it. lol

did I read wrong? You had to beat on the wastegate to get it to work, but you don't think there is a problem with it since it moves smoothly with a pump.

no i didnt have to beat on it. rob said he had one stick one time and said that h just tapped on it with a hammer and it workd. i admit that after i tapped on it it did seem to work for a split second. but like im saying it was just a sudden occurance that it messed up, like less than 24 hours. it workd fine then it didnt. i dunno what to do. i am using the standard hks waste gate. not sure if anything else will work but i would give it a try if id would fit the manifold.

how would i know if the diaphargm is bad? could a pin hole cause it to allow boost to build like that. and just curious does the exaust cause the gate to open or is it the vac line from the turbo to the gate that forces it to open

Where do you live?

What do other folks run for a WG at your power level?

also, if you were to suck on the side barb to try to create vacume it wont hold suction. if you do the same to the bottom barb it will hold as much "suction" as you can put on it. now remember the wastegate is off of the car

new question, with the spring out of the waste gate:

should you be able to hole your finger over the side barb and push the valve down and it come back up?

if you put your finger on the bottom port the valve will come back up when you let go of it.

pressure bleeds off while holding the side port with your finger and letting the top port excape to atmosphere

just some food for thought

Why can't you drive over to QMP, swap your WG, and see if that is the problem? You bought a used WG so maybe you need a new one.

that drive to qmp is about 3.5 hours and then have to change the wg there and try it out. now submerged the wg in water and had no leaks when trying to push on the valve. none from where the diaphragm is at. now when i hookd a hose to the side port and blew on it air seeped up through the valve stem and out the top of it a little. all this was done without the spring in. not sure if it means anything or not but it appears that its not leaking

you should get some leakage around the valve stem, that's normal.

You should NOT get any leakage between the two ports, that's why the diaphram is there. You should be able to pull vac on the top port, that will pull the valve open. It should not leak down if the diaphram is intact and sealed properly in the hat of the WG.
