Default Blower on top of Heads/Cam...Feasible?

Hey all of you knowledgable FI guys! I currently have a head/cam/nitrous set-up and was thinking about switching to a blower for a power-adder. Would it even be worthwhile to try and FI a 11:1 engine? Could I get a 100rwhp like the nitrous? The cam is a 232/236 which is good with the squeeze...how about psi? Anyways, any help would be appreciated. Thx! Ben

IMO, a lower CR would be needed to run enough boost to see an improvement.

Even 5psi would be too much with 11:1, eh? I have some good tuning facilities availible to me, just don't want to tear the engine apart if I don't have to...

Yes, I think 5psi would be a bit much, especially with a 100 shot. What you have to remember is that the SC, unlike a TC is going to rob much of the power gained by it's use just to produce the boost. You'd be better off just bumping up to a 150 shot IMO.

Maybe one of the more knowledgable FI guys will chime in.

I been able to run 5# on my H/C's with 11:1 CR on a conservative tune. It runs better than I expected.

But I have FI heads on the way.

I meant running a blower with the heads and cam INSTEAD of the nitrous. Are the larger valves the issue, or the cam and compression? Please excuse the "newbie" questions...I tried a search but it didn't help much. Ben

If you want to run significant boost, you'll want to lower your CR.

You can absolutely supercharge a motor with 11:1 heads. Of course, you won't be able to run more than 5-6psi, but anything less should work AS LONG AS you're intercooling your intake charge. you'll want to keep your intake air temps below 160°F if you can otherwise you'll have to start retarding your timing significantly to prevent predetonation.

I'd suggest going with a centrifugal, of course, so you can easily cool the charged air. I think the duration on your cam is a little suboptimal. If your lobe separation angle is 112° or less you will probably be wasting fuel with that cam in getting blow-by through the exhaust because of your overlap. It'll still work, though; don't get me wrong.

Well I'd only want about 100rwhp over N/A, so would 5-6psi be up to the task? I'd be looking at a Vortech/ATI intercoolered set-up with a good tune. Thanks for the help!
