Default Another take on a FMIC install-pics

Just another angle on installing an OBX front mount. I also cut the foam support to be able to fit. It gives the front clip full support and also serves as an upper shroud to the intercooler forcing all air through the core.
I have to give thanks to frcefed98 for pioneering this mounting method as it works fantastic!
Steve

nice work as usual Steve, I guess after cutting all that stuff out you will have to stick with the FMIC for a while

Looks great! That's what I was worried about, I want to keep my foam in as well to give the front end some support.... thanks for the pics.

All I need now is to see some IAT's with 10+ boost and what it looks like on a camaro and I might be tempted to buy one

Are you still using the G trim, or upgrading to something else?

Wondering how your pipes are routed if using the G trim.

I see the obx intercooler seems to be a hot item on ebay. What i want to know is has anyone bothered to find out what this particular intercooler flows?. there is no information about flow numbes on the ebay listing.

I woulkd have kept the fog lights, but i think this is a really tight install. Did you do all the welding yourself? Home garage or do you have access to a more professional setup?

RICE ETR, one member already has put 12psi or more into it and had awesome results.

slow, I have not run the pipes yet. Still keeping the G-trim for now.The pipes will be a straight forward install. Inlet to intercooler will run from blower to pass side of intercooler through the hole left by the coolant tank like others have done. Outlet will take a 180' bend and run behind the stock air dam back to the pass side up through the the same hole as the inlet and to the T.B. Will be no problem at all doing the piping.
I'm tapped out right now so have to wait on buying all the mandrel bends I need.

I would imagine it flows fairly well as it has 3" inlets and smooth flowing cast tanks. I think it's rated to about 800hp.
I'm going to install the fog lights. I like the look better with them in.
I need a front plate in Illinois. There is PLENTY of room for the plate to swing inward and fully out of the way. So I'll just get a hinge assembly and a control cable and make a 007 license plate control.

buschman, foglights are going in this afternoon. Just have to introduce the brackets to Mr. Chop saw for the needed modifications I have in mind.
I'll take pics when I do it.
Yes I did all my own welding, cutting etc in my Home garage.
I used my 14" chop saw and a 4.5" angle grinder with cutoff disk for the bumper mods.
I used a sawzall with long *** blade for the front foam cutting.
I weld with a 155 amp Century Mig.

Looks great Steve. Didn't expect it not too though with you doing it.

I am going a bit different route on the install.

Should have some pics in a few days.

NA$TY-TA, well I never like to pay full price for anything .
I'll certainly check out e-bay. After all that's where I got the intercooler.
Do you have a link to the seller where you got your pipes?

oh it's nothing radical. it's mounting in the exact same spot.
it's just how I am mounting it is a little bit different.
I am going for maximum ground clearance for my piping as the STS kit hangs a wee bit low so I got the intercooler up another 1.5 - 2" inches higher than what you guys did. This way I can keep the pipe that goes into the intercooler as high as possible for as long as possible. It will all make sense when you see the finished product.
