Default Root or Screw Style Blower for a C5???

Do they make one that would support a 408ci? I am thinking next year of changing my setup once I get tired of the spray. I want to have FMS drop the compression and then go FI. I was wondering since the 03/04 Cobra guys are doing so well... How would a 408ci with a roots or screw type would do?

The Radix is not big enough to support your engine. You make more power now than you could with that blower. That is my opinion only, some might dispute that analysis.

Look at a turbo setup or possibly a ATI/Vortech setup. Just because of the quick adjustability and lack of belt drive problems I'd say turbo. I think the ATI superchargers have bigger headunits available than Vortech that fit the Vette kit, but not 100% sure about that.

Maybe a custom setup using the whipple 3.3L blower would feed that 408.

That would definately be badass. I think that blower is good for around 1000+hp at it's limit. Probably to big to fit under the Vette hood though.

The guys Down under are using the Whipples with intercoolers very simular in design to the Ford guys and it works great for them. I can't remember the site something like Forced inductions specitalites not sure check over in the Holden Performance section they will know what you are talking about!

I do not want a HUGE hood. I wanted something similar to the magnacharger because of weight. If I have to go turbo then I will. Not really concerned about the mass hit financially, because I am going to purchase the majority of my own parts to save on the mark up. If I cant find what I want I will pursue putting FI on a car already built for it..

dont bother Vince, waste of money

You car makes awesome power on motor and with spray it'll be insane.

Dont bother with the blower in your combo. I would only consider a A&A blower setup with an F1 for your app but you'll need to drop the comp to about 8:1 if you want it to live on pump gas.

So much effort when the 150-200 shot of spray on top of your current config would give similar/more power throughout the curve

roots type sc, will give you more torque down low which will make everyday driving more fun.

spray is fun but refilling bottles gets old.

the roots blower is just an eaton like on my Lightning. you will make less power with a magnacharger (eaton M112) since it can only support a certain cfm. look at the cobra guys, they have to spray the **** out of htem to make big power. the KB screw is the way to go, but i am pretty darm sure it wont fit.

how about an F1r blower? i know that randy (sickvette) right here in tampa made around 900 hp at the crank with a 346 mild combo. ofcourse others have made bigger power and there is no hood issues.

btw thought you were retired

All things equal the screw will out perform the roots. Roots gives you a hit down low. Centri gives you the hit up high. Screw does both!
