Default any Vortech Guys using Alternative Intercooling/Aftercooling?

Just wondering, seems like the aftercooler is a bit small to do a good job. but I'm not sure.

It isn't , go to Vortech's website and read up. Some of guys have used intercoolers in lieu of the aftercooler but they suffered some loss of boost pressure with the extra piping that is needed but the trade off is lower iat's.
to compensate you would have to spin your blower higher to compensate.

I'm not totally convinced that's its worth the time, effort and money to switch to a intercooler when the aftercooler does its job just fine.

I Have a custom f.m.i.c. on my V-9.There is a little boost pressure drop, but the cooler air more than makes up for it.But i also wanted a f.m.i.c so when i put a bigger blower on,the intercooler will be already there for it.

Working ok still at 12psi and 1100cfm. I was surprised it could handle the T-Trim ok.

Is it an alternative to run water/methanol instead of a cooler?
I have the non cooled kit making 4 - 5 PSI boost and IAT is an issue right now

if you're going to just to the track only i would say yes, but if you're going to drive your car around on the street most of the time it would be in your motor's best interest to run a cooler, its there for a reason

My IAT's dropped from 165 to 130. I lost 2lbs. boost. Apparently boost pressure drops with IAT (not sure of the formula). If I stay with this setup I will switch the MAF to the pressure side because I've read I might pick a lb. back up. I do like how quickly the IAT cools down compared to water. I blew my first motor by hot lapping the car and not letting the water cool enough between runs. I did best my trap speed by 1 mph. No E.T. gain yet but my times are erratic because I run Nittos and traction is limited. I had hit a wall with the aftercooler and feel this mod opens things up for futher power gains down the road. For a G-trim though I think the aftercooler works pretty well.

Fine to 630rwhp and 12psi.
I think I will hit 640rwhp with the final tune.

Larger reservoirs, higher flow water pumps and larger or dual air/water radiators could help, but I'm fine so far with the stock Vortech setup. This is the C5 kit and should be the same as the F-Body aftercooler.

I'd do something different if I was shooting for 650rwhp+.
