Default Forced Induction

i was thinking about going with a supercharger on a 408...i know they don't have one out yet, but would a twin screw be coming anytime soon you think...i want a supercharger and i don't really know what i want...i've done a lot of research and still can't find out what i'm looking for...i thought about an f1-r but then i heard you have to rev the engine really high to use it's full potential...i'm looking to rev the 408 <7000rpms and i want ~750+rwhp on pump gas...i really don't want a turbocharger and i really don't care for a loud supercharger...that is why i think a twin screw would be best for me...but they don't have one out for the f-bod as far as i know...i'm looking for power under the curve more than peak power though...i have a somewhat tight budget so nothing too crazy...i would like some ideas on how to get me 750+rwhp on pump gas...and the engine last for quite a while

Either an ATI with an F1 or a Vortech with a YSi. Both should have a FMIC.

i suppose i could be open to a turbo if they were that much better...i'm just not a fan of lag or the heat that they create...they also cost a lot more and seem to not last as long...

haha you're crazy...no clue as to what you are rocking out to either...haha

oh and by the way it's an m-6 if that helps any...i guess it would dyno a little higher...also i haven't decided on what to go with as far as the block...either i'm going to go with an ls2 or a 6.0 iron...i haven't really looked to hard at the advantages and disadvantages of either one...any extra insight on that is more than welcome

That right there are not words that go with a F-Body and a Turbo or Supercharger setup.......... To make that kind of HP your looking at at least $6-7K in the super charger Plus say $1500 for the fuel system to make the HP and about the same maybe a little more to do a turbo.........It takes alot of Money to go this route...........

well..i guess that is what it is going to take haha...i will see what the future holds in store though...i may be content with just a 450hp heads/cam/bolt-ons ls1...but i'm not there yet so i don't know...i'm going to have to finish college and start making some major bones before i could even start this project...why does college have to be so expensive...

All you have to do is use a aftermarket K-Member and they will fit with a little help. Most of the new K's drop the engine a little, and you could make custom mounts if it wasn't enough.

Anything can be done if you have time and money.

F1 or F1-R either one will do it under 6500 RPM on pump gas, the catch is CR, and crank and pulley size, Crank needs to be no less than 7.875" and BLower Pulley needs to be 3.85 or smaller. You will also need Steel blower bracket from truetechperformance.com. to remove all belt slipage that you would normally see with aluminum bracket. A twin screw blower will not move as much air as a centrifugal Blower. This is per "Street Supercharging"

It is all about efficiency. If you set the CR right, you can have the best of both worlds, and won't over drive the motor or blower.

You can PM me for more details.

Bryan

I'd build a 8:1 408ci.

I don't know much about Eaton or Whipple setups, so I don't know when they out of their effective range.

If you had a YSi-Trim and had it pulleyed for 12-15psi it would easily do 750rwhp though "pump gas" will always be a question when you hit the track. On the street you would rarely be able to wind out the car so pump gas might be okay, but at the track it's nice to have race gas in there to deal with the hotter inlet air temps.

I did 746rwhp with a 348ci, 9:1, FMIC'd, T400 unlocked, and 17 psi.

Next time I dyno I might be over 801rwhp.

8:1 is way too low compression for a street car and i seriously doubt it will do that make 750 rear wheel on pump gas. i'd go 9:1 and go for 12 lbs and that should be plenty of power for the street.
