GT47-88 is good for about 1450 horsepower, the 80MM version is good for about 1250-1300. Large frame turbos, with 7" inlets, 5" downpipe outlets, and good luck fitting one into a vette without ditching every single accesory.

Ditto on what he said. Also they are lazy to spool. The compressor wheel alone is weighs ~400 grams. The exhaust side with shaft is close to ~730 grams.

JZ for a front mount style single turbo with a motor displacement of 385-400cubic inches and a target RWHP range of 650-700 what turbo would you recommend?

Say something that will be mounted where the battery used to be, using air to air intercooling and 6L truck exhaust manifolds installed backwards and dual 2.5 inch into single 3 inch flange to the turbo.

Would the MP70 support that RWHP target?

I would say a GT42....That turbo will spool real quick and make 700+rwhp on a ci setup like that on pump gas.

The MP T70 is too small for an app. like that. If you do the math, the T70 would be well into the choke line area.

Here is a consumption chart for a 383.

and below is the compressor map for a T70 p-trim which is what a MP T70 is..

You can see do the #'s at the higher boost levels its not efficient at all.

As for what I would recommend and keeping the size to a minimum, either the 76GTS or the GT42-76. Both are basically the same units and a 3" downpipe is what they require. Either of these 2 units are great, they are the same wheels, just different casings. If you go for the GT42 flavor, make sure its the -76 version. The largest version of the standard GT42 from garrett is only a 74mm and its also not a T4 based exhaust. The -76 is a PTE hybrid and is the version you would need if you decide to take that path. If you need any info contact me. I'll try to help as much as possible.

The next would be a mid-frame 88 if you want to keep the T4 exhaust side.

BTW, keep in mind the 88 is a good bit larger in the exhaust side. The housing is as big as the compressor cover.

Excellent Thanks man!

Out of the two you just described, which would be your first choice? What is the approx cost of each unit?

LOL, Yeah I forgot about the GT80, and it indeed is a T4 turbo also, but its kind of the red-headed stepchild...lol. It seems to get overlooked. With that in mind, the GT80 is another step up from the 76GTS as well and a step below the PT88.

I was looking at that PTE 76GTS. I noticed the 76GTS come with only a .96 a/r, would that be too much of a restriction for a 383?
Sorry if its a little off topic.
-Mark

EDIT: I know the smaller a/r helps with response but hurts the top end, I am just questioning at what point would I need a bigger (1.15?) a/r?

The .96 A/R is plenty for a 383. The windsor guys are making some huge numbers with them with even more cubes then that.
