STS has applied for a CARB # which will allow you to pass smog. I'm interested in getting one but since I also live in California, the visual inspection could be a problem without the CARB #.

You did a search and didn't find any info on lag??? Damn, must be too many posts about the single tail pipe thing cloggin up the system... LMAO!

To put it simply. With a base kit (the 60-1 turbo) there will be almost zero lag. With the upgraded turbo there will be a little lag when the motor and turbo or cold but once warmed up the lag is very minor and actually helps control the massive wheelspin you're going to get when the thing spools up. The guys I know with the GT67s on F-bodies rave about them and they say the lag is not even an issue.

Now, go too big and upgrade twice like I did on my truck and lag becomes and issue. From a 30+mph roll I can barely feel any lag but anything below that and I get a ton of lag! I knew this when I upgraded my turbo the 2nd time but I was sizing it for great top end and to match my new 6.0L motor when it goes in.

Even with my lag I can still drag race the setup with great results due to my 3000stall converter. I would cry if I had to run this big turbo on a stock stall.

Here's my truck attempting to launch on 8psi with the front end at stock height (I lower it now for racing).

Sinced you're in the South Bay you need to call up Rick at Synergy Motorsports in Fremont. He is the Norcal STS dealer and knows the ins and outs of the kit. He installed and tuned my truck for me. I don't know enough about turbos to tackle it myself.

A base kit with the upgrade, injectors and a tune pus install will probably run you in the $4.5k range or something like that. Rick has a few packages setup from easy and cheap to wild but keep in mind one thing. Even the base kit he recomends is the lowest i would go. To me it is too risky to install any forced induction kit that raises power levels to over 400rwhp and almost 500rwtq and not do injectors and a fuel pump. That's just my opinion though. Some people may say otherwise but usually they are just trying to sell you something cheap so you bite. Then when you blow up later they can play ignorant.

Since we are talking STS, how much of a gain would one see by going w/ the FMIC?

Default stall or NOS

wouldnt a stall help with the turbo lag issue? or even a lil shot of nos out the hole hooked up to a hob switch that turns off the nos at a set boost. I think that would be a good idea.

Yes, both can drastically cut down on lag or elimate it all together. Some of us just don't wanna use another power adder and the problems associated with it.

I know why I get lag and even my 3000stall can't fix it. I am simply under cubed for this turbo. Something I had planned on and will remedy when this poor motor gives up the ghost. 6.0L here I come

For instance, I have a slightly bigger GT67 than F8L does and don't notice any lag, even with the stock converter.

Something to consider on the TC issue: there are 'turbo stators' to be had (if you ask for one) that will help the spooling. I know PI does this on request and am sure most other companies would as well.
