Default Air Plenum box blew up

Has anyone heard of a procharger plastic air plenum blowing up at WOT? I was tuning mine on the dyno and it blew a 10inch hole in the plenum box. I guess i will be ordering the metal plenum now. Now I am juiced for the weekend, Can't find anyone with a replacement until monday.

Yes they blow at 4-5 pounds of boost. I have no idea why they sell them with an 8+ pound kit.

Local member of fbodyowners.com blew the sh*t out of his at 6 pounds. Procharger told him its only good to to 4-5 etc. Thats why you see everyone with the polished ones.

I was only running 8psi. What a piece of ****! It was going to be a clear and cold weekend. It would have been nice to have been out and about, but I can't find anyone or place other than procharger who has the metal plenum until monday.

Where do you live? Maybe you can find a local ProCharger dealer that may just happen to have one lying around. Slim chance, but worth a shot.

It was my understanding that the black unfinished plenum was just unpolished black aluminum.

If that's not true, then are the only choices plastic or polished aluminum (at an additional $184).

I've read hundreds of posts on the ATI and this is the first time I have read this. Am glad I read this first because I was planning on ordering an ATI 1 DSC kit from EPP. But I sure as heck didn't expect to get a plastic plenum.

How about the hoses? Are they rubber too or the more expensive silicone?

It looks like they show nice blue hoses in the sales pics but when I see pics of installed units the rubber hoses are black.

What's up with that?

Those pics are of my plastic box that exploded

From what I understand, and if you look in the Procharger books you will still see the black painted metal box offered as the basic box with the polished one as an upgrade. Somwhere down the line the switched the basic box to plastic, when I called them after mine blew up they said my only option was the polished box, they no longer offer the metal black box.

And yes they did say that anything above 4 to 5 lbs and the plastic box might not survive. They offered me a replacement plastic POS box for free but I just upgraded to to the polished one.

It does suck being down becouse of the damn air box blowing, as you can tell by the pics I tried to seal it up just so I could drive the car and that lasted all of about 5 seconds before it blew appart again.

I have one with 2-HKS Bov's custom mounted in it for sale. You'll pay about $200 total from Procharger. I have $750 in my set-up and I'm giving it up for $600 shipped. I have pics if interested.

Nice Plenum, but a little out of my price range. This FI project has nickle and dime me to death. I can only afford the $200 intake from procharger. But thanks anyway.
