I have an 02 SS bone stock...how well will the motor handle 5 lbs of boost on stock internals with a dyno tune??? I wanna opt for the sts kit but I really don't wanna blow up anything

The STS kit will be fine in that boost for you, but you will need to run 91+ octane gas.

Your motor will have no problems with that small amount of boost, especially with a good tune. However, it will only start with 5#'s.

5 lbs of boost should be a walk in the park.

I have a friend in Denver (5000 Feet) pushing 8psi with a bone stock motor, stock injectors and no dyno tune. No kidding. His car moves out! He's making peak boost at 3500rpm and runs it to 5500 or 5800.

You'll love the STS Turbo if you don't mind the clearance issue.

agree, you should be good up to 5psi of boost but I wouldn't really push it much more than that unless you are going to invest in a good/read forged pistons, rods, etc. Also don't skimp on the tune;I've seen many people get in a hurry and damaging their engs because they were too cheap to get it tuned and run 91/93 octane...

You can run 5lbs no problem.I prefer some 42lb injectors with the tune to be safe. Then when you move up just add a front mount intercooler and 8lbs of boost. That will give you another 80hp easilly and still be safe.

BTW-I run 12lbs on my stock motor Vette.

I'm confused now....some say up to 9....some say up to 7 and now up to 5? which is it? I'm going to get my car dyno tuned so thats not an issue...but I need to now where i stand...if 5 is the max than I don't feel too comfortable taking it to the max....if its 9 than I feel like i have some safety room....someone help
