Default STS ground clearance

I was looking at their site today, and watched the Trans Am video. It looked like the return pipe hangs fairly low and when the car squats it looks like something almost hits the ground. Is this a serious issue with a car with the HAL QA1 suspension kit (going on my car soon)?

That pipe is REALLY low... I dont know if launching, squating, will ever be a problem but Id say itll come REAL close. Not to mention if youre going to be launching that hard take into consideration that you will lose your SFC by going with the STS kit.

I have put many STS kits on f-bodies, even some lowered. On a stock ride height car, it is no problem what-so-ever. It will not scrap anymore than the stock y pipe. On the lowered cars, it is still no big deal, you just have to be a little more careful. On the last lowered car I did, the lowest thing on the car was the ORY.
As far as the sfc goes, most that have them, just take the drivers side off and use the STS sfc piece. So far, not one has told me they can tell the difference. It bolts in just like a sfc.

cool thanks for the info, its between the STS and the P-1SC...starting to lean towards the STS if i wont have to worry about and clearence issues with the QA1 coil over kit... im going to be upgrading my rearend and clutch and other necessary drivetrain stuff so it can handle that much power, but do you think a launch at like 4k would be an issue for this system scraping? and do i need to do any bottom end modification if i would be running between 7-9psi? I also noticed that there is only one pipe coming out the rear, does it have to be that way or can i still have the true duals look? the single pipe just doesnt look as clean as the true duals look

My car had the Eibach pro kit, I put the stock springs back in. The ground clearence was too tight for my liking. I don't like the stock ride height, but I sure like the look of the turbo. I also put airbags in the rear, $66 from summit, for an airlift kit. When I get it ready for the track and have the right tires I will put a little air in to ensure that the launch doesn't cause any problems. They make a center dump for the exhuast, i went with this one and put a nice looking dual tip, reminds me of my viper. Car sounds awesome.

When I came off the Bridge on the way Home the other day I hit a Dip in the road and I scraped the FRONT intake pipe right below/behind the maf. It just scraped a tinny BIT BUT It happened 2 times so far on the same dip (I was doing like 60mph). I was looking at the pipe and I can fix it with a little welding and re-fitting of the Pipe (I think). I have NO problem at all with the rear clearance BUT my car sits a tinny bit higher in the back than most! Not sure if anyone else has this problem? I have the QA1's also and I bet if I stiffened up the front end It would not happen BUT I like the ride the way it is and Its sorta Stiff already!.

AS for the Exaust. I cut it way back and did a turndown. NOW I have NO tips at all. I think NONE looks better than one BUT not as good as 2? IMHO, Lata, Ark

yeah definatly none looks better than 1 but never better than 2! What kind of power are you making with the STS @ what psi? cuz the way it looks right now this system seems very nice and sleeper! just the concerns with the clearance issues. How do you think this system stacks up to the ATI P-1SC kit?

I Just got the system UP and RUnning last week. I did A Lot of prep work to get ready for it. I was doing some test Runs and MY opti came apart! Have not got to the Dyno YET so I have NO idea what kinda power its making yet? Once I get the Opti fixed/replaced (going with a delteq set up) I am gona get it Dyno Tuned and then I will know for sure. I am trying to Put 600 or better to the rear wheels! SO far it seems like I should be able to hit that target. Lata, Ark

I just have one pipe out the back with a big Corsa tip, but I have a Formula so I dont have the big cutouts. The center exit exhaust is too low for a TA to me, so if you want duals, this it what I would do. You can buy a little flange off of ebay for your wastegate where the exhause comes out. Put that on, then go to a little bigger pipe over to the drivers side and to the same tip you have on the pass side. This way, it is even functional.
Or, you can just hang a dummy tip on the drivers side.

What about aftermarket K-members? I have one and just purchased a kit. Any chance of routing the pipe to the I/C up front that way instead of going under?

I got a BMR front K memeber and from what I remember I dont think you can go over? My car is NOT home right NOW so I cant go look but thats a DECENT idea. You would have to adjust a few Pipes if it would work BUT I just dont think there is ROOM! I will have to LOOK at it tomarow For sure! Lata, Ark
