It's a boost actuated cut out. The girlfriend was nice and bought me one for x-mas.

New to me. What is their purpose and how well do they work?

when boost comes in it opens up. That way you could run something like a stock cat-back but when boost hits its open exhaust. Pretty cool i think.

Don't know how well they work but the work off boost. I wont be able to test mine for a couple years, but from my understanding you can use a MBC to adjust when the cut out opens (Given PSI).

I posted one similar to it a couple months ago by ATP Turbo in Fremont, Ca... Same idea, just a boost activated cutout.

I don't have one. I thought about running one mut my system is so easy to remove the muffler that it's kind of a waste. Very cool unit though

I installed 2!!! They seem to be working well. They seem to have the same amount of leak as electric cutouts so no biggie. I am guessing they are opened around 10psi. I know for sure they aren't at 5 psi. i will change my tranny downshift parameters and see if i can get you an exact psi. Before at 70mph, my car would spin about 10-15 feet and start to go sideways. Now it kicks sideways as soon as they open. I can definitely tell the power difference but I am using stock exhaust with a flowmaster muffler in it. Soon, I will install a completely stock catback. I will try to get some video in-car today

No but I have been thinking about talking to my local CNC shop since they don't have a plan to make a 4" one.

That's awesome, now I can run loudmouth flow levels again but with my Magnaflow on. I'll get a 3 incher and run it right on the intermediate pipe just before it goes over the axle....

How much pump gas boost are you running? He said it takes about 10psi to open it.

Frcfed98 is runninf well over 10psi. Kinda odd though because Paul (ATP) said it should be as open as it's going to get by 5psi. They never open 100% but more than enough to work as a cutout.

I see 15-16psi depending on conditions.....but I'm now considering going to a true dual 3 inch set up..... I have enough left over 3 inch stainless to get most of it done. F8L how's that bad *** truck running?

Its using a bog standard garret style wastegate actuator, as fitted to many turbos ( internal wastgates of course )

You can get these in various spring strengths, from about 3-4psi upwards.

Final inspection of my house just finished so it's definately sold. That means plans for my longrod 6.0L, 4L80E, and more boost go into action.

I'm really hoping to see if I can push it to 650rwhp or so. That will keep me solidly in the 11s.

If it's too loud I may end up with this "cutout" too.
