ysi against a turbo

i was originally go with a ysi blower, but now im having second thoughts.. what do you think will make more power.. im was looking into the 80mm turbo.. both all out on the boost...what do you guys think..both dfi'd big cube ls1..

Basically/generally

-They would make similar peak HP, but the YSI would do it at a higher rpm

-Turbo would have much higher peak torque, and area under the curve

I had a YSI on my 99 SS and i was pretty happy with it except for the high HP peak as INTIMD8 said but now im swapping to a 76mm turbo because i can get similar hp if not more power & certianly more torque and imho i think it would be a lil more street friendly. However you said going all out on the boost so i dunno. Both my setups are only running 10-12psi on street and prolly 16-18psi on race gas/track. PSJ is running a YSI and he'll prolly be mid 9s easy this year. Take a look at the boosted list of 2004 and you'll see turbo and supercharger cars neck and neck. YSI's are awesome but Id go with a turbo. thats just my 2 cents

well see in trying to go into low 8s.. mid 9 is not going to work for me, i did that this year with lot of spray... its going to be a 427 afr headed,dfi, something,, dont know which way to go.. i know where i have to be its just getting there is a big problem.. i know i can make like 25lbs of boost with the ys1 and im trying to figure out is that going to be enough to put the car where i want it to be,,it will probably weight 3200lbs. do you guys think it will go that fast with the ys1?or do i have to go with a huge turbo?

if your going for low eights id do a turbosetup, supercharger could get you there but it will take more work.

I'd look farther up the food chain than an 80mm turbo or the ysi if you want 25 psi on a 427.

With the right chassis the power from a 427 at 25psi will get you low 8's to 8.teens.
