Exposed Air Filter in STS Turbo
I really want that system, but if it will compromise my daily driver ability, then nevermind. I've also noticed that most of you guys' LS1's aren't your daily drivers. So am I correct in guessing that forced induction is not the right thing to do in a daily driver car? My car is my daily driver, so this is really important to me. Thanks a lot in advanced guys.
Being a good daily driver is where this kit excels. My car drives bone stock until you get on it. I get the same or better gas mileage too.
As far as clearance, you loose just a little, but not much. I may scrape on something once every month or so, but it is no big deal. I even have a pre-production kit that is lower than the design STS has now.
Feel free to pm me if you want to ask anything about the kits.

Cliff notes:
1) You would have to drive through a flooded part of the street where the water came half way up the wheel before you would submerge the filter.
2) The turbo is mounted close to you rear axle, just behind it. You MIGHT hit it if you did a wheel stand. The only problems might be where the charge pipe goes under the K-member, and your car was severely lowered AND you buried your wheel into the wheel well. I would worry about straddling something big in the road. But other than that, there are quite a few people that haven't had any problems that your mechanic described, whatsoever.
