Default STS on TV

Anybody see 2 guys garage? They installed an STS turbos system on what appeared to be a stock SS. On 5. or 5.5 lbs it made 406 (I beleive) horsepower on their MUSTANG dyno. Pretty cuuull.

I saw it last nite. The baseline was weal 269 rwhp? But the kit put down major Hpcafter they were done ~400rwhp.

Was that a board memer's car. I remember they were loking for someone on here to use their car for the show. They wanted $3K.

Those baseline #'s were low but remember that was on a Mustang dyno not a dynojet. So I would say it was probably a 290RWHP car on a conventional dyno. Also remember that it appeared to be completely stock, all the way to the lid, and it was a pre-ls6 car. It really makes me rethink my upcoming mods list.

I dont like how the intake is so low to the ground and behind the rear wheels. Seems like youd pick up a lot of dirt and grime, and moisture if you drove it in wet weather. But I guess the heat from the turbo would dry it up. I would be worried about running something over and banging up the turbo or ripping the oil lines out.

I had the same fears, I had a chance to be a test car and get a great deal on an STS kit, but those concerns kept me away from it. I may still get one. I also do not like the one exhaust pipe look.

While watching the show i was infuriated (sp?) with the stock numbers. It was like they were trying to embarrase the car. But then i rememberd it was on a mustang dyno. Does it really minus that much power as far as the numbers go? I wish they would have showed them driving the car and having some fun. ****I believe the car was a 2000. I think thats what they said.

I'm just wandering how fuel compensation is achieved. Obviously you cant use an fmu on our cars and even if you could I know its not the best way to achieve a proper tune. Is there some type of ECU flash. They were saying on the show that it was untuned. Is the factory ECU making all the adjustments?

since the baseline was 269 on a mustang which = 290ish rwhp on a dynojet does that mean that the numbers for 5# should have been 430ish rwhp?

Your right and I applogized a couple of posts ago. I should have looked further before I posted. Got excited and screwed up! I generally try to search before I post, one reason my post count is so low. Again, sorry!

It wasn't dyno tuned. Rick Squires tuned the car using HPT.

Those kits put down nice numbers, but it seems like they wouldnt hit boost until half way down the track. Anyone seen any track numbers yet?

Ohh! Well there ya go. It just seemed to me that they were implying that it wasn't tuned at all. By the way, that woudn't happened to have been your SS on the show there would it ? Anyway, thank for the clarification!
