347, 383, or 402 thoughts please. . .
Guys, I have already blown my stock 347, now it's time to get a forged mo-mo. I am leaning toward the SLP 402; however, before making the purchase, I figured it would be good to get more feedback.
I already have the 224/224 cam and a built tranny. I am going to keep the P1 ATI blower for now. I figure a forged 402 with an ATI (even if it only makes 5 psi) will be pretty trick.
I would love to get some good feedback before making the purchase.

i read a post of one guy with a slp 402 that is having some problems blowing smoke out the exhaust, He has some kind of blowby/ring seating failure.
A forged 347 will do just fine, with FI there really isn't a necessity to go up in cubes.
Your car made a lot of power for its mods and boost level.

I wouldn't suggest any of those options. HPE can set you up with a 408 iron block with basically any piston you want for $3899 or do a 346 for $2499. Right now HPE is building me an iron 398 with forged everything for a little over 4k. This motor is being built to withstand 1500 hp!!! The pistons and wrist pins used in my motor are similar to those used in Rick's 8 second 170mph TA on HPE's site. Here's a link to their F-body stuff:

Erik Koenig(the machine shop manager) will talk to you and design everything to your needs. He will even explain anything that you don't understand, I've spent countless hours on the phone with him and that's part of what made me go with HPE. Also if you go with HPE i suggest asking about Probe rods as they are lighter than the Eagle's and are much easier to balance for only a few bucks more. Good luck.

Interesting.. . oops, I have to change my signature. I was running 10psi to get those numers.
I have a 370 c.i. iron block also.
Strong as hell motor for as much as a 346 if not less.
10psi on a stock bottom end. Damn man u are a lucky sume bitch. Unless it has only been wot once at that psi.
edit: What heads are u running. If they are stock u might want to look into a set of ported once while the motor is out of the car.

Your SLP 402 doesnt even have a warrenty at all......... do a lil searching....... You dont need big cubes to make alot of HP. Im running a 370 iron block from AP Engineering... and the only reason i went iron was because when i blew my stock motor it destroyed the block and head. I dont know if HPE's short block includes all ARP fasteners or not but i know APE's does.
My short block was $4600 and that included,
a new 6.0L block,
Polished & Magnafluxed Stock Crank
Diamond Forged Ceramic Coated -15cc Dish 4.03" Pistons (Coating extra)
Diamond 4130 Chromemoly Wrist Pins
Diamond Pro Select Ring Set/ File Fit
Eagle H-Beam Connecting Rods 6.125"
L19 ARP Rod Bolts
Federal Mogul 152M Main Bearings
Clevite CB663H Connecting Rod Bearings
ARP Main Studs
ARP Head Studs
Cloyes Adjustable Timing Chain Set
JWISS Ketton C5R Timing Chain
Ported LS6 Oil Pump
Blueprinted & Fully Balanced
Camshaft
There cheap street 347 is $2899 i believe off the top of my head......
Oh and most every engine builder needes your block, crank, oil pan and front and rear cover or a Core charge is applied.

Before you plunk 4k on something as important as a motor at least call around and talk to a bunch of shops to see which ones will talk to you and which ones won't give you the time of day.
Good luck.

BTW - I am not looking for anywhere near 1200 HP. The comments regarding warranty were merely toungue-in-cheek.
SLP, also a vendor on this forum, does not select all the parts. As far as I know, before ordering the SLP shortblock from Speed Inc, they mandate a phone conversation to make sure all the necessary parts are being ordered?
Also, the guy who had the SLP 402, found the problem and the motor appears to be running strong.

A forged 347 will do just fine, with FI there really isn't a necessity to go up in cubes.

My 427 help me to net the 800+ RWHP. I feel that would not have been possible and still have gotten the reliablity that I got from my setup.
