Default How much boost?

How much boost can be safely put on the LS1 346 aluminum block with the stock crank assuming 9:1 compression?

it's a tough question to answer. It depends mostly on the tune and octane of gas you are willing to run. Boost is also a horrible way to measure. It's nothing more than a measure of restriction.

I've seen people blow up cars on 5 psi and other live long lives on 10+ psi with stock motors.

I believe Harlan is/was more like 8.75:1 but I'm sure he's hit like 23-24psi thru his.

I've gone 21psi with my 8:1 motor.

Thanks, reason for asking is I talked to the guy I am gonna have tune my engine for me and he told me that after 12 pounds the bearing start to walk and the block gets destroyed, I thought I would get a few second opinions from the guys who have already been there and done that

I would love to know. Some guy locally here was telling another member that a 98 LS1 block is not worth building and to get a newer year block.

The amount of misinformation regarding cars is just unbelievable.

I agree. I would not use a early aluminum block for high output engine. On sustained high power level gen 3 engines, I have also noted main bearing cap walk.
I'm from Michigan....lol
