Default Wideband sensor location for F/I

Where should I be mounting my WBo2 sensor? Before or after turbo?

We run ours before the turbo. You can run them after though as well.

I just got this private message

Always mount the O2 After the turbo if your looking to read air fuel ratio. If you put it before the turbo the exhaust back pressure will raise the egt temps and give a false reading. If your looking to install O2's for the stock computer you can put one in the crossover and the other three in the downpipe. If you using ls1 edit for tuning install one before and one after and shut the rears ones off.

Backpressure will effect your readings. The best place is after turbo for wideband 02.

We have run 2 widebands in both locations on the same car at the same time, and readings were the same. I thought running it after the turbo would also be the best thing to do, but that was not the case. Now if the turbo system sucks, then yeah you may get exagerated EGT's which would skew readings, but for most setups before or after doesn't matter.

thats strange i have always heard mount your narrowband o2s right after the manafolds before the turbo, and put the wideband ofter the turbo.

anyone now how far away you should place the wideband after the turbo, i cant remember.

Jose,
I have never tried to run in front of turbo. It seemed that it would work until we talked to Bosch about sensor location. It seems that backpressure causes there sensors readings to vary. After checking with a few other manufactures we came to the conclusion that after the turbo was the right spot.

Kurt, to me I also agree to put it after the turbo. More then likely with time the excessive heat may get to the sensor when mounting it before. I do tune my GN with it before the turbo though, but only cause I don't have provisions for it after the turbo. Even though we did and have run them in both locations without a problem, I get a warmer fuzzy feeling if its mounted after the turbo .

the heat also decreases the WBO2 lifetime..

I mounted mine right at 12 o clock 6 inches from the turbo on the DP.

Is this correct? What about no cats? Do you have to turn them off or use o2 sims or just put them in?

I did find out from FJO that wideband o2s are pressure sincesitive. And they recommend putting them in the down pipe. Also without a cat they recommend anywere in the pipe but at lease 18 inches from being in free air.

Yes about 6-12 inches from the turbo.
