Default Incon Turbos - Wire Only One Shut?

Well, tried to get the driver's side actuator remounted to the turbo . . . and just my luck, BOTH ******* holes are stripped . Neither one would tighten. I've about had it with this ****. Can I wire the driver's side shut, but leave the actuator on the passenger side? There is no way I can tap those holes unless the entire driver's comes out, and believe me, that ain't no picnic.

If I wire it shut then the driver's side would do most of the work, and the passenger would be doing less I assume. Can this cause a problem? I'm thinking not, but need your thoughts.

Just pull it out and do it correctly. It may be a PITA, but you've dumped this much money into it already, why do it half-assed?

I guess because I've been considering wiring both shut anyway . . . I've had guys tell me the most these turbos will produce on a 370 will be in the neighborhood of 12, maybe 14 psi. I've dynoed it at 10, 11 - 11.5:1 AF, no hint of knock. This on 91 octane. I'm running 8.7:1 CR, how much boost can I give it? To the max of these little turbos possibly? If so, I'll do a lot of work for nothing. That's the unknown here, I'm just testing it out. Does that make any sense?

i would pull it off and do it right. Seems like when ever I cut corners it always comes back to bite me in the ***

i don't know for sure but could'nt that cause reversion on the intake side of the turbo that does not have the wastegate wired shut? just my .02

Ah, the voices of reason . . .

I still may throw it on the dyno with both wired shut ( take me 1/2 hour to do it, if that's too much boost I've only lost 1/2 hour and a dyno session. THEN I'll pull them both out and have them checked over.

Higher than 20?

I could have sworn Harlan said something like 16 on a 346 . . . but if you've seen it first hand!

If you shave down a few wrenches (corners) and have a few offset wrenches you should be able to take the compressor housing off without pulling the turbo at least with PA k-member. Heck with a aftermarket k-member you could drill, tap and helicoil them. I would not reommend doing this inplace since the holes are drilled all the way through. Man you have the worst luck.

ha ha, yea what about a stock k-member? What am I looking at here. Yah I know I have the worst luck. And I'm blaming just about all of it on the dolt that did the install.

I was real thinking about wiring mine both shut. As I am having problem making boost. I have dual port 10lb actuators but am only getting 7lb. This turbos arn't Incon they are close, a little bigger but still. the actuators are real real tight. and still 7lb. I know a boost control will fix it but I would like the 10lb actuators to work first!

Anyone have any ideas???

You guys are probably right . . . could this be a good time to put in a pa k-member and pa a-arms??

2fast4u . . . have you verified that they actually start opening at 7psi, using a mityvac or something? Can the rods screw in/out to adjust like mine can? I think I can vary up to 2psi with mine.

Yes bmr K-member A-arms and every other part BMR makes on my car lots of room.

Well I haven't checked the actuators and they are adjustable. But even with a cheap screw type boost controler I only got another LB. out of it!

You don't have to, but now is the time if you can...combined you lose around 44lbs as a bonus.

don't worry about the upper as it weights more than stock and does nothing for saving room on the Incon parts.

Oh and the BMR A-arm will automaticly lower the front of your car 1". If you have Hals turn them up if you don't you can buy the BMR shock spacers.
