Default MAP Sensors

At What Boost Level would you all recomend swaping the MAP for a 2-3 bar map, what is the limit for the stock MAP.

switching the map sensor would only be good if you upgraded to the HPT 2 or 3 bar setup,
two bar will get you up to 14.5psi, three bar will do up to 29psi

no the sensor wont read that,
the GM 1 bar sensor will only read -14.5 to 0 psi (gauge)
2bar gets you -14.5 to 14.5 psi (gauge)
3bar -14.5 to 29 psi (gauge)

so one bar reads atmouspheric pressure and not above

False, you need to run a 2 bar MAP sensor for that. If tuning with just the stock MAP, you can run nothing but naturally aspirated.

The natural atmospheric pressure forces 14.7 lbs of pressure into the engine.

Without this pressure our bodies would literally explode, just like in space, because there is no pressure in space; space is a vaccum, much like when your engine gobbles up pressure given to it by the atmosphere, it reports a vaccum if you have a vac. gauge on your N/A car.

1 bar of actual boost would be an ADDITIONAL 14.7 lbs of of pressure, or in this case just 14.7PSI on the motor as the boost gauge registers it. It get confusing when using MAP sensor terminology to some, because you start out at -14.7psi.

So here's the breakdown:

-14.7 to 0 PSI: 1 Bar MAP
0 to 14.7 PSI: 2 Bar MAP
14.7 to 29.4 PSI: 3 Bar MAP

1 bar = 14.5psi
1 atmosphere = 14.7 psi
1 kpa = .145 psi
100 kpa = 1 bar

You can't just add a 2bar sensor to the stock pcm, it won't work. The HPT stuff works because of what they have done to make it work.

I run a 3bar with my BS3.

though looking at our primmary VE tables it list 15kpa to 105kpa, this being absolute pressure our 1 bar map sensor effectivly reads pressure to -12.5psi to .5psi (gauge)
so you can boost .5psi and not worry about it
