G'day, Street Tuna...

Thanks for the power conversions. Just curious, when you're talking with the other car guys down there do you go with Nm and kW or lb/ft and HP?

It really depends. Some guys are HP and ft/lb only. Others (generally the younger 'metric' generation are Kw and Nm.
The conversion is easy. 1kw = 1.34hp, 1Nm = 0.74ft/lb
Hope that helps.

Ahhhh, I see how to use this... you wanna impress someone with HP, forget metric.

But for torque, I'm gonna start talkin' Newton-meters.

Even though it brings back bad memories of physics class.

Anyone tried running 650+ rwhp with 100 unleaded and meth? I haven't heard of anyone blowing up on race gas.

See my sig for my Z06 Blown by ECS D1SC and installed and tuned by FLP. The secret is a great complete kit, install and TUNE is HUGE of course. I have detuned myself to live as long as possible on my 100% stock LS6 motor, and am shortshifting a bit on the street so i don't exeed 8 lbs or so on my 10:5 to 1 LS6 motor, and am probalby seeing around 550rwhp on the street.

When a new C6 Z pulls up to me or i go to the track, then its time to crank her up to about 6500 rpms and 10 to 12 lbs of boost!! I have 3400 flawless miles so far and i don't FLOG my set up as its a daily nice weather driver and i am hoping to get at least 20K miles out of my stock LS6 motor!! How hard you drive the car is HUGE as to how long it will last obviously!! I am also running straight alky methanol injection as a safety mearue and not to make more power, but to run as safe as possible, as i rather run rich (and be down a little down on power) than grenading my motor, etc!!

Mine is still running strong at 10,000 with no problems. But like you said, it all depends on how hard you push it. a couple of months ago, I had to push it to limit when I raced Lamborghini Gallardo on the freeway. Had him up to 160mph before we let off.

I lost my bottom end finally, it started knocking. The final nail in the coffin was making a pass when I didn't realize that I was over 1.5qts low on oil. It was on it's way out though for a while looking at the debri in the pan. Way more debri than the litte tick mine had would produce. The likely culprit was rod bolt stretch. I was running it to 6500+ all the time for 15k miles under boost.

My suggestion is to keep the RPMs low if possible, or replace the rod bolts.

Why not just run 8# of boost and not complicate things with the Nos.
Have the 530 all the time.

It's all in the tune, no tune, motor go boom.

Oh yeah, run good gas if you are gonna do it, and by good i mean the leaded stuff of at least 110 octane. Safety first.
