Default Whats a supercharger cam?

I hear people saying the LPE gt2 cam is good for that purpose, old man cam, etc... What MAKES it friendly for supercharging? I have a TSP 225 cam w/ 114 LSA. Does that mean it won't work as well as the gt2 cam or flat out blow up my engine?

Is that a single pattern cam? 225/225//114?

Typically a S/C has more exhaust lift and duration along with a wide LSA. For example

218 degrees intake
226 degrees exhaust
0.578" intake lift
0.589" exhaust lift
115 degress LSA

The idea behind it is that the compressor is forcing the air into the cylinders, so mroe lift and duration is not needed on the intake. The wider LSA helps prevent the boosted charge from escaping out the exhaust ports when both the intake and exhaust valves are open.

so what you think would happen if I use my TSP 225 cam? Would I blow something up or just won't pull numbers like a cam with more exhaust duration?

You can get as complicated as you want to on this, but at it's most basic level a SC cam is a cam w/ 114-117 LSA.

I have a TSP 220 single pattern cam on a 114...I'm going to run it and I'm sure it will be just fine-if I'm unhappy with the results I'll pop another cam in at the end of the summer.

Don't worry so much

When ever i tell people what cam i think i always go with a reverse split to help the motor exhale more since the SC is forcing all the air in.... and yes the higher LSA helps to not bleed of the precious boost you just worked so hard to make.... The cam you have will work.... dont waste your money and buy a new one... if it was on a 112 id say sell it but it isnt.....

There are many opinions on Cams. You have 2 options.A small wide LSA Cam which the point is to have NO overlap and hold the boost pressure which increases HP output across the midrange. The other option is to run a big Cam/less LSA which will help prevent detination in the midrange and give more of a peaky HP.The second choice is pretty good for stock 10-1 compression motor's.

Now technically you can run a single 225 Cam and get decent results but in the FI world-bigger isn't alway's better or should I say rarely better. So the answer is yes,you can run the 225 Cam without a problem

In my opinion 8 degrees between intake and exhaust on the duration, Need more exhaust than intake on lift .010 inches, and at least a 115LS. The larger LS allows boost to build behind the intake valve. The lower the LS the more boost you will bleed off.
