Ed, did you get an answer about the correct orientation of the valve?
I figure that the butterfly only swings one way to open (clockwise I believe-but i didn't crawl under the car to verify), therefore, in the orientation i have in pic below, the valve will slam shut under boost-if it was turned around the valve would be forced open by boost and unecessarily recirculate the charge air.
At idle, vacum would hold the valve open (no matter which way it was positioned, you would only really have a problem under boost)

I have not ask about it. I can't see it being a problem either way. But what do I know.
I'll fire off an email to EPP and see what they say.
The valve does look nicer than mine. Its only $47, so debating on changing it.

As per the instruction manual:
Either way, the valve should block flow. However, you'll note that the actual butterfly is offset in the housing. I'd probably put the "shorter end" on the intercooler/pressure side, so that the butterfly bolts are on the backside of the valve (in relation to air flow). I hope I didn't say that backwards.
I was somewhat curious -- this is my first blower (twin intercooled D1sc). How 'leaky' should that surge valve be? Even with the butterfly closed, I can easily blow thru the housing -- seems that it would bleed off a lot of pressure. Perhaps the butterfly just needs readjusted...
"Since the surge valve is a butterfly valve it is unidirectional (can be installed in either direction)."

Cool Ed ! See, it was worth helping me so you got a good look at the new BPV !
...and nobody has commented on my busted-*** swaybar mount ! (It's been fixed since the pic was taken).
BTW, car is running great. I was throwing P0101 (MAf freq) the last few days but after some research I made some small adjustments to the low RPM/idle VE and it's much better cold starts and no more bucking at all during low RPM low load situations (which was when the P0101 was getting thrown).
No codes on the way to work this morning or during the lunchtime drive !
Oh, and got the McMaster Carr check valve installed too. So far no problems.
Cheers !

Hmm.... would have been worth it if you bought it for me :p
Glad the install is holding. *knocking wood*
My heads should be ready today, and if they are. I am going to try to install them this weekend. :woot:

For $47, I'd be willing to bet Bob misunderstood what you were asking for and gave you the price of a Bosch bypass valve. It looks like there is a fair amount of machining time and assembly time into that new ProFlo bypass valve. Bob is a hell of a guy, but I doubt he'd be willing to sell a $150 part for $47. Just my .02
