Default unintercooled boost limit?

I have heard that on lt1's you can run 6 psi unintercooled and 9 psi intercooled, but that is with 10.5:1 compression, but I just built the bottom end with forged pistons and rods, with 21 cc dishs, giving me a cr of 9.25:1, what would be my limits on intercooled and unintercooled on pump gas.

no intercooler on a forged motor is stupid, and with a FMIC you should be good for 12-15 psi

my brothers mustang is 9.5:1 and he has been running 9psi non intercooled for years. 20+ degrees of timing to boot. runs great no issues. you certainly wont get the max out of your setup non intercooled but you can do it.

Think about alkyl... I see a difference of 100F using 8 GPH water/ethanol 50-50.
6 PSI, 12.5 AFR, 24* timing and no KR.
New dyno numbers in a week or two. In my sig it was with 10.5 AFR and 21* timing.
This could be an alternative to an IC, don't you think?

I plan on throwing an intercooler in after a mounth or so, I just want to get some track time in now that I have gone from a supercharger to a turbo, and I don't want to push it to much, So I figured since most people on hear know what they are talking about I would try to get my ?'s answered, it looks like 9 is safe unintercooled, anyone else?

no, this will be on an lt1 with 9.25:1 cr not the stock 10.5:1 or the 10:1 that the ls1's have.

SJH had his vortech running that way at 13psi!
And I'm in the process of going back to that setup.

SSprayn, are you running 10 psi only when you are spaying? and what is your compression ratio?

I don't have nitrous on this car. I got the screen name from when I had my old car and joined the board. My compression ratio is 9.2:1

I was getting 6-7 psi on my stock shortblock with a powerdyne, but I could only get ten degrees of timing out of it at peak torque.

Lt1 also has a bigger bore which may make it more proan to detonation then a ls1 (both stock bore ofcourse).

oh, I overlooked the first car in your sig, and thought it was the mods on your lt1, so what do you have done to your lt1, if you don't mind, I am just trying to figure roughly what I am going to have when I get it on the street?

Non Intercooler will be okay for your LT1 396, However Keep the Timing low..

I would buy a Meth kit and install it..
