Default Will a LS1 stock crank hold up to 10lbs?

Has anyone had problems with their stock crank? I've heard the pistons are the weak link in the bottom end, but never heard much about thrashed cranks. Am I correct in assuming that my stock crank will hold up?

Yes, that stock crank is pretty tough for a cast pieve. There are a lot of guys running big HP through those cranks.

you are doin amazing numbers if you have a crank broke from HP levels. Some folk makin near 1k hp on stocker. They are REAL strong for stock. The stock pistons and rods are near thier end at around 600 hp. GL mate

your crank will be just fine

Although i don't recommend it to anyone, i ran a stock crank up until the end of last year. Best of 8.29 ET and 171 MPH at 3350 lbs. I've since gone to a callies crank, no need to gamble at speeds approaching 190

Sounds good!

y2khawk - looks like your Silverado is in the same condition I am working towards. Except I am leaning towards a radix. How do you like that Livernois kit? Stealing the thread but it's my own thread anyhow dammit!

Honestly I don't know what it was making. Never had it on kill while on the dyno.

As for the truck, it's a decent daily driver Traction can be an issue below 45 though

No complaints on the turbo kit, it was the 2nd prototype they built. Mostly to get the jigs started, so it has some fixes that cropped up along the way. But it fits, and performs well. Only problem was I out grew the base turbo quickly.

I don't know of any truck guy that has broken a crank. There are a few people in that 700+rwhp range and they are doing fine. If you're talking truck motors mine held up fine to 14-15psi (550+rwhp 5.3L)with stock internals.

My current project should be well over 700rwhp and I plan on using the stock crank although I'm going to have it cryo treated since the place is local to me. Twin turbos are easier on the parts than nitrous though.
