Default anyone tried e-brake launch?

I need to get my 60' down. My car brakes wont seem to hold the car reliably at anything over 2800 rpms on the 2 step. Has anyone tried to launch using the e-brake as well? I wonder how much holding power it would have. of course it is raining now so i cant try it out. I gotta get more boost on the line since I dont have a t-brake. Might as well try the e-brake.

Usually when I have messed with ebrakes in cars, I don't push them down all the way, typically 1-2 clocks from fully disengaged. Sounds like a terrible idea.

You could do like some of the Turbo Buick guys I know, they hook up a line lock to the rear brakes. Set the line lock when they stage and boost away. Works great!

line lock on the rear works, the e-brake in these cars are tiny little shoes that have a hard enough time keeping the car from rolling down a hill. Problem is disc brakes dont hold as well as the big rear drums on the older cars.

Having that same issue can't brake boost at all, the car pushes through the brakes easily.
New rotors and pads too Looks like a line lock for the rears is going on my car too...does this ever end?

Have done it with F-body's alot
Pull e-brake hard, pump brakes and hold down, floor gas peddle to build boost and let everything go at once

you guys prolly know this but i did not...thanks to B1ner for this info. if you are only worried about et and not reaction time.....stage....put car in neutral while holding the footbrake down...rev motor a few times and you will feel the pedal drop giving you more holding pressure then put in drive and launch. I just went outside to try this and gained 200-300 more rpms before the back tires started spinning. On another note, at 3000 rpms on the 2 step i have 4-4.5 psi......in hptuners, hit the button under vcm controls for "absolute timing"...had it set to 10 degrees and boost immediately went up to 6 psi. I doubt my 26" DRs will hold that but i will tell you friday!!! I have been searching the net and found instructions for a "jumper valve" from the turbo buick guys. Apparently when activated, it applies most of the brake pressure to the rear wheels. This is just what I need since the skinnies slide anyway. Hopefully they wont slide when trying a 3000 rpm 6psi launch.

Or get an adjustable brake proportioning valve, and try to adjust a rear brake bias in with that. But be careful not to go to far or the car might start swapping ends in the shutdown area.

Thanks for the HPT tip Cablebandit, but dang it mine is already at 10.0
Looks like I have to find another way to brake boost this thing at the line. Hopefully the ebrake works. Don't have to worry about reaction time if your car is fast enough right

I've been wanting to take the button out of my E brake handle so it can't lock. Then you could release it much easier. Haven't did it yet though.

I have been doing this since the late 80s with my turbo Buicks and it works great.I use both the E brake and the foot brake and let them go at the same time. Be carefull because greed will get the best of you.
This one guy I know ripped the backing plates right off the rear end. I dont know his name though.

Just do what I did. bite the bullet and buy a converter. I just got my fuddle converter installed and man does it make a difference. it's nice to build 8psi against the 2-step at 3800 on the FOOTBRAKE. I wonder what it's going to do on the transbrake. .... John @ Fuddle Racing
