Default I keep ruining belts!!!!

Okay, I just installed a D-1SC LT1 kit on my car, 8 rib setup from ATI. I keep losing one rib on my belts due to it walking forward towards the front of the car on me. I know I have it adjusted wrong, but could anybody give me some detailed adjustment tips so I don't have to keep buying $30.00 belts all the time. THx!

i had the same problem make sure that the Crank pulley lines up with the blower pulley. Gotta be under the car to get a good feel for it, take a sturdy straight edge and put it against the face of the crank pulley(its gotta be long enought to reach the blower pulley also) it will give you an idea on what is out further crank pulley or blower pulley. Most likely the blower pulley is out further so you gotta space out the crank pulley.
Also on mine the whole bracket was tilted down towards the ground not aligned with the motor itself. I ended up putting a 3/8ths washer between the spacer and the bracket itself on the lower bracket bolt(so it tilted the whole bracket up)
this kinda stuff takes time, good thing you got a 8rib my 12 rib is a lot less forgiving.

Thanks a ton for the advice. I thought maybe the belt was too tight and that made it walk forward. I will do what you have suggested and see what happens. The "7-rib" custom belt i have created still works, I just want it to be right. I had the P-1SC on my car before with the 4.0 pulley, and now the D-1SC with the same pulley is like night and day. I cant believe how the D1 makes so much more power. So as a rule of thumb, do you keep the tensoiner bolt pretty tight, and use the bolt sticking out the top and the small screw behind the bracket for you adjustments? Or do you have to loosen the bigger 3/4" tensoiner bolt and make adjustments to the others after? Thx again.

i usually make all of them loose the small 9/16s and 3/4 then i loosen the top tensioner bolt. Loose the first two just a little, when you put a new belt on tighten the first two almost tight but so you can still put tension on the belt. When you are done tighten them up all the way.

Make sure your blower pulley is on correctly. I had mine on backwards once and it did the same thing.

My 6-rib belt was walking. I had to use a thicker shim on the blower pulley to move it out a little. The thicker shim is only about 1/16" thicker than the shim that was on there when the belt was walking, so things have to line up pretty well.

Make sure you used the correct Hex standoffs that came in the kit. The 8 rib standoffs are 2.75'' long vs the 6 rib, they are 2.5'' long. And the round spacer inside the idler should be 1.75'' or 1.85''. With this one you can tell by looking if things are inline, might need to swap the out.

I think this may be most of the problem. My crank pulley sticks out further towards the front of the car than the blower pulley-I never even touched the blower pulley, just used it straight from ATI. I think I need to shim out the blower bracket a tad and see what happens.
