Why Not To Get STS?
Most people consider it the time until you reach full boost. Lag will vary depending on many many things, load and turbo size being the main two. Temp affects it as well. It takes me 300 rpms longer to reach full boost now that the temps here are 110+
By the way, in first gear my car hits boost at 3,000 RPM. I have a lower rev-limiter programmed into my car so with the clutch pushed in I can bounce off 3500 RPM when I'm staged at the line. Give me 3 seconds and I'll have 5 PSI ready to go waiting for the light to turn. Dropping the clutch at 3,000 with 5 PSI is a pretty good way to reduce your 60'times by the way. No, I don't have good track times, the density altitude today in Salt Lake is about 10,000'

With the turbo at the back the gas is cooler, hence less volume, but still the same quantity of exhaust molecules, they just aren't as excited as when they came out of the combustion chamber. The solution to this is to use a smaller hole that causes them to build pressure faster.
The hole i'm talking about is the a/r of the turbine housing and the wheel selection.
When it's hotter out the car doesn't make as much power, less power = less exhaust to get the boost building process going. I'm at 2200' and have excruciating day time temps. On a day like today 117 F i'm losing around 70-80 rwhp compared to a 65 F day. When I dynoed my car it was 96 degrees in the shop, my corrected numbers were 507, my uncorrected were 460.
P.S. The turbo does work better when it's up front, but it works pretty good out back too.
3450 isnt gutted...stock carpet, panels, etc. rear seats are removed and alot of lightweight suspension stuff.come on admit it, that was pretty funny
oh i remember the 408 you were talking about..it had stock ******* heads...please stop before i bitch slap your *** once again. Remember my graph ..peaked at 4k on the dyno an even sooner on the street ya i thought so.

On a more serious note, Purevl your numbers are impressive. I haven't seen that many on an STS with those numbers, but I have only been doing some research on the kit for a short amount of time. What exactly does your setup consist of? I have considered maybe purchasing this kit in the future, but I don't plan on stopping at 500rwhp and I need to have a good plan before I start throwing money everywhere. It would also give me hp #s and expenses for this kit to compare to other setups.
Do **** waffles come with syrup?

ok now that i've asked and have recieved there are actual answers to why STS are having "shitty" 60's The answer... big turbo...... not enough "excited" molecules (gas) moving into the turbo housing at a high enough volume. There for "spool" times are increased there by reducing the amount of boost avil. during your initial 225 ft or whatever you quoted. Now for the noob to school you... bigger turbo = the the opportunity to produce the greatest power How ever the bigger the turbo the more "lag" you produce...(doesn't work exactly like that but i'll assume your not a complete tard)... So your "buddy" with the STS who has a shitty 60' needs to consider a couple of things.... "brake boosting" or small turbo.. by shrinking it will reduce the amount of gas required to turn it there by reducing lag time.. so for those who have full boost or most of there boost at 3k or 3.2k they are obviously more intellengent that your buddy or your buddy was aiming for something else....
2 all of those more intellegent than myself and V6 please feel free to gently correct me... again i'm a supernoob but it appears i'm not alone.

If had my fun with it, school is numero uno right now...Ill build another car and this one will be a thumper framed single...no rear mount non sense.
Other than that you WILL run slower by quite a bit. I think the only slower track than us is bandemier, but I could be wrong. Our DA is almost always above 4500 and i've seen as high as 7500 a few times. I don't even go to the track that often and I know twice i've seen 7000+ DA
cause you can drive..asshammer
Mike you rock, asshammer, twatwaffle...classics buddy classics.

you don't have to lie to sound popular v6 bird... you don't have any friends.

My .02 for a DD car that doesnt want to spend to much $$$ and be happy with your new found power STS is a good way to go......... its alot cheaper..... i can tell ya that much ha ah LOL :jest;
