Default My Dyno #'s

Went to Walker dyno in Birmingham this weekend. Met Scott "Gomer" and a few other people. Had an excellent experience with both sides of the field. The car made 624rwhp 678rwtq on 13psi and pumpgas. I'm happy with what it did on a 70trim 96ar. The torque band was nasty... peak power somewhere around 3700rpm rode it all the way up to 59-6000 and it started to fall off. I ran the car today at an 1/8 mile track we've got. around here. Ran an 8.13 with a 2.2 60' 95mph... It pulled pretty nasty... I "had" a SPEC 3 in it until the 4th pass... I hear MM is having goodluck with the SPEC 4 and is working on a SPEC 5 now... so I'm gonna see about picking one of those up. Honestly, I didn't expect this 3F to last very long. Overall, I've had a really good weekend, glad to be back home.

I don't think it seems too low for what it was pushing...

Here's a rundown on the motor

Eagle Forged H-Beam Rods
Wiseco -25cc 2618 Forged Pistons
P Stage 3 Heads (2.08/1.60)
Cam(231/224 .595/.578 116lsa + 4)
Yella Terra Rockers
LSX 78MM

Undoubtably theres a weaklink somewhere thats choking me up... Notice the torque was a lot more than the HP, I'm pretty sure that had to do with the turbo being small. I turned the boost up a couple pounds towards the end and it wouldn't push anymore. So that leads me to believe it's undersized and choking out. If anybody else has any suggestions I'd love to hear them! It made decent numbers but I've been around here a while and I was slightly dissapointed it didn't make more. I can't complain though... it still runs.

You dont need a spec 4, take it out and send it back to Spec, Tell them you want the full ceramic surface treatment with the aluminum pressure plate upgrade. My spec 3 did not have any problems after the upgrade.

My guess is if this is the second one, you did not have them upgrade the first disc to a full surface. I was making almost 200hp more than you. So is it the clutch or something else? With this same clutch I went to the track and ran 14 consecutive runs down a 1/4 mile one right after the other without any cooling time in between other than driving from the finish line to the starting line. Not trying to give you a hard time, just saying that the Spec 3 with a full surface is the way to go for the power you are making. Its not like you are putting down 1000hp. Right?

Just a thought

Nice numbers, especially on pump gas, get a bigger turbo on that thing. T76GTS would be a good upgrade, right?

A 76 would be really nice, i'd love the hell out of an 80R though... My peak power would be a whole hell of a lot higher. I could really see that turbo choking out, the more i turned the boost controller up the less boost it made per pound. I could see solid 700's with a bigger turbo, I don't give a **** what anybody says. Look at the torque, the motor is just getting choked.

I respect your opinion... I'm just ready to try something new, it's obviously not working for me this way.

80R is nice too, but i'd like to have a 76GTS to replace the 70, should be more street friendly than the big 80....I'm guessing here tho

I guess by upping the boost all that you were doing was adding heat to the intake as the 70 couldn't provide those CI's anymore gusto.

But with that type of power i'd be happy as a pig in ****, it'd keep it that way for awhile

Bingo

It's fun to drive, thats for damn sure. That turbo sounds so nasty too... It gets a lot of attention.

Thanks for coming up Andy! That's a nice setup you have on your car. It was very hot today and I was really impressed with the torque the car was making I think that turbo being sized for a rear mount STS kit originally is holding you back. You can see by looking at the dyno graphs that it is coming on soon, coming on hard.. and then it is done! The first graph is the last pull, showing the air fuel on that run. The second run (in red) was on it's way to being the best pull, but Andy saw the fuel pressure move a little bit and we let out of it on that pull. Overall, it made some killer power with the 103* temps in the dyno room and with the 93 octane in the tank.

Nice dyno numbers. I had a choice between the Spec 4 and the 3F. I went with the 3F. It is a real nice clutch and a full disk
