are the powerdyne set up okay... I was thinking of buying one found one used for really cheap...

how cheap you talkin? For the right price I'd pick one up, its not the best setup since your limited on boost, and some people seem to have problems, others don't, but for the right price it can be a nice power booster.

That is pretty good deal. You are probably going to need some good fans and a solid tensioner and you will be rockin. Get used to pulling that head unit and replacing the main serpentine belt - I had to swap mine out every month or so. It was fun and made good power, though.

If it’s the internal belt type not gear, then you will be limited on max boost and mass flow. That’s why new head units are gear drive.

do they make gear drive ones for the lS1? last time I called -probably a year ago they said those gear drives were only for race vehicles, and none were going to be made for an F body. those gear drives sound much better than having to change belts, and the sound is probably nice as well.

The belt you are going to be changing is the main engine serpentine belt. It only lasts so long because the blower runs off the back side of it, not the grooved side. My belts would only hold past 6000 when they were new. After a month or so, it would start slipping at 5700 or so.

Here is a graph of a pull after about a month on the car: dyno. It was pulling great until it started slipping.
