Default ATI Guys Belt issues?

I was wondering how many of you ATI guys are still having belt slipping issues and if the new 8 rib set up has fixed it for most people or what you have had to do to get it resolved etc... I was looking at an F1 kit, but don't know about the belt issues being resolved or not. I was also wondering who makes the FMIC kits for these kits and how are they working etc... Any info you would like to provide would be great. Thanks!

I have been running the 8 rib and ATI superdampner from the start. Pushing 9 psi with no belt slippage or problems whats so ever going on 8000 miles. And no belt dust.............

LOL that is another option that I haven't ruled out the F1 though is capable of more boost than the T-trim and so I was just trying to decide if it was a good choice etc... JM you know I am a big supporter of Vortechs kit they just need more models for our car. I haven't finished with my Vortech yet I am just trying to look to the future and plan ahead.

I had an 8 rib setup turning a d1-SC and then AN f1-r and it sucked big time! i was going through belts like crazy and could never keep building the same boost (12 psi) reliably. i tried everything and the absolute best out there is the sdce kit hands down.
you get an spring loaded tensioner and an additional blower bracket brace.
the car has more than 20k miles on the original belt sdce sent me ( i used to go through about a belt every 2 to 3 weeks) and now i make 16 psi constantly .

Don't mean to get off subject just struck me a little by supprise. What kind of timming are you running? Looks like it could be a very conservative tune etc...

ATI has a new 8 rib setup. It has two tensioner pulleys and there are plenty of cars around here with it having no belt issues. Belt issues are a thing of the past. But you can still use SDCE if you have the money. Don't let all the folks who had tried an 8 rib ATI in the past scare you and make you think SDCE is the only choice, things have changed since then.

SDCE is not the only choice > I like it for the blower support and spring tensioner. ATI system just smashes the belt together. Either way squits is right > with all the options out there > belt slipage is totally avoidable!

As far as my tq numbers > probably due to flowmaster cat back, mac y pipe, stock intake, and that's about all I can come up with. I'm runnig 18* of timing (I think) and I can't remember what the cam specs are.

Are you stock cubes?

I'm curious to know how the f1 would do on a stock cubed ls1 since it seems like the only guys running the f1 are strokers.

If someone had bought a 6 rib ATI then the SDEC setup is the way to go, but if anyone planning on getting a SC kit... just get the 8 rib ATI because there are no problems with it. Hell i didnt even touch my belts since the kit was installed and i drove the car alooot. I think Bob from EPP got 15psi out of the stock ATI system with no problems too.

How many F1/F1R F or Y cars have gone over 140mph?

Here is the list for the Vortech YSi:

Gator99TA, 140 mph (LT1)
Me, 144 mph (LS1)
Z8's, 159 mph (LT1)
Rob's SS, 142? mph? (LT1), maybe 2 or 3 years ago
George Baxter, 155 mph (LT1), about 3 years ago
George Welter pace car, ??? mph, (LT1), maybe 1999 or 2000?

ATI Crowd:
Madman/Ducote Firebird, 148?, D1X? (LT1), maybe in 2000 or 2001
Dallas Castro Camaro, 141?, D1C?, maybe in 2000

That's one power adder of course, if I sprayed like 1DirtyZ (and did not run out of fuel system) I think I'd hit over 155mph on a 100 shot.
