Question Thoes with a turbo/supercharger and an Automatic in here

I plan on going turbo next spring/summer and wanted to get some of the smaller things out of the way like suspension,gagues and what not.. Im thinking of changing my converter to a higher stall and wondering what i should get. I would like to be able to start to produce boost off the line with the turbo. What are you guys running. thanx

well blowers and turbos are differnet beasts. also where you make your tq peak is going to be of some concern and shift extension are more important. you need to know an approximate value before you order your convertor. we have a Rossler TH400 and a A1 convertor that stalls at 4800 (perfect for us).

Turbos peak lower than centrifrugal superchargers. I'd ask the turbo guys, but I'm guessing they mostly run 3600-4000 stalls.

I am supercharged and mine is something like a 4600-5000 like Gator's.

im running a 3400 stall built by yank for a turbo application.

its for a 4l80e, rated to 1k hp. most of the certer is billet

there expensive though, once you start looking for a converter that will hold 650-800hp you are talking some cash

I'm running a Midwest 3500 with a 2.0 stator. I chose this because a 3500 is still pretty streetable, launches hard, but the lower stator rating doesn't blow the tires off on a prepped track.

I cut consistant 1.6x 60' times with a stock suspension (springs/shocks and BFG DRs), and usually hit 4psi of boost on the launch with my Procharger P-1.

yea maybe i should have said the max power goal i have. Looking to put down 500 on the high side, i could live with 450rwhp....I asked this question once before and was told a 3k is plenty. I see others running 3,500-4,000 so i figured i would ask again but this time in the FI section of the board...

Keep it on the tight side for a car that rolls on radials and rarely hits the track.

That's me. 2600 here, had a 3400 but it was way too loose for my liking.

With a turbo car you're better off starting low on the stall as most tubos tend to blow through a high stall converter. I'm using a Vig #4 pump that stalls around 2400with the footbrake...probably rated around 3000rpm....supernice for the street.

Im running a Vigi 3400 right now. Its the only converter Ive run with the kit so I really have nothing to compare it to but street manners are great. If I were to buy again I would be looking at the Pro Yank Extreme 3600 as it is built to handle a bit more and I am looking to make a bit more power eventually
