E85 w/ forced induction?

Default E85 w/ forced induction?

This fuel is rated for 105 octane.

If I had a alchahol tolerant fuel system, how would this compare to normal race fuel?

ya, i saw a post on ls2.com in regards to some people using that fuel as its much cheaper then reg 87 oct even...

Im curious to know as well if this would be a cheap substitute to race fuel.

You will need to update to much larger pump and injectors to supply the fuel needed.

depending on the type of alcohol, stoich AF can be in the 5:1 to 7:1 range and enrichment fuel will be south of 6:1 even with an 85% mix.

It's cheaper alright, but more often than not you need double the volume/mass for the same output. Sure, it's a cooler burning fuel and has a higher knock limit., but you'll go through twice as much.

Youve seen pics of my fuel system right? at least if youve been following my threads regarding my turbo setup.

The IRL is making the switch over the next 2 year from mixed Metanol to Ethanol. by 07 they will be running E100. I'm gonna wait and see how that works and listen to what others have to say before I decide to make the switch or not.

ya it was a good idea till that surfaced.
isnt the stoich of E85 something like 9:1 so youll probably be running it around 6:1 and thats alot of fuel. (edit: ya basically what you said)

better get them 160lbers tuned well
the big boys will probably need Two sets

methanol, ethanol ... they are both virtually the same ... the only important difference is that if you drink one, it could kill you.

Ethanol=Corn Squeezin's, white lightnin', MOON SHINE. Well, kinda anyway.
Methanol=distilled from wood. Don't drink it.

I believe E85 has 35% less energy than gasoline does at any given volume.

100% correct, just open the wallet and feed the man! There's not cheap alternative other than a turbo on a Civic
