Cool little wastegate tailpipe Bob.

I hope the customer likes loud, with the dumped exhaust it's gonna drone like a *****! I have gone thru a few iterations of exhaust on mine, what you have there is definetly the loudest. It's actually quieter with no tail pipe at all, but then you can hear the whistle from 2 blocks away

Alot of folks like it that way though, hopefully this guy is one of them.

Get your earplugs out for WOT tuning, it's gonna get loud in there with that and the open wastegate.

Can't wait to hear how it does. Good luck!

Thanks! We started tuning it yesterday and was at 437rwhp at 6 psi (fresh engine, didn't want anymore boost than that for now) when we noticed the transmission was slipping in 3rd gear! Looks like a tranny rebuild will be next... Bob

The DR. Evil transmission is getting pulled Monday and will get rebuilt by Rodney at RPM Transmissions. Hopefully we'll have it back up and running by the end of next week. This car needs to get some miles on the fresh engine so we can crank up the boost and get it to Norwalk on Oct 22nd. Bob

Bob, as you are an inquisitive guy, you might look at adding some thermal wrap. I started a thread here about this with the STS. Although my LS2GTO is building boost at low rpms [2200-2500rpm] I want to see quicker response time, and the more I think about it, I STRONGLY believe that a bit of heat wrap all the way to the turbo should SIGNIFICANTLY improve the spool of these cars. If the heat loss through the wall of the exhaust pipe can be minimized, the rear turbo becomes even less of a compromise.

You could be in a position to run this car on your dyno AND the street, add the wrap [if the owner is agreeable] and reassess, monitoring spool as well as power. This might prove to be invaluable data.

Think about it!

Will do, thanks. I'll run it past the customer. Thanks. Bob

We're getting this car ready for taking it to Norwalk on Oct 22nd. M/T 17" drag radials went on it yesterday, as well as stock height springs and new shocks. Transmission is being rebuilt by Rodney at RPM Transmissions, and we might just try wrapping the exhaust once we get back to tuning and upping the boost. Bob

I'm picking the tranny up at RPM transmissions this morning and we are reinstalling it this afternoon. We should have some more dyno numbers, along with more boost, in several days. Bob

The tranny is back in the car. I drove it home last night, and I will continue to drive it as the customer is out in California right now and won't be back until right before we take the car to Norwalk, and he wants us to get miles on his new engine. Hopefully I can rack up some quick miles to break in the engine so we can up the boost. The tranny now is working great. Bob

STS problems...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We dynoed at 448 HP @ 6# good... 558 HP @ 11.5 # GOOD... Problem is we need more boost, and when we street drove the car in the 11# setting it sets of the oil warning alarm but not in the 6#. Brent tried to call STS five times yesterday and left multiple messages and no reply...so I was hoping you guys might help
I'm resarching some different wastegate springs and Im confident I can get the boost up.

It was 76* 56.488% hum. 29.166" hg, today.
When we started our first pulls at 11# we had been doing part throttle tuning for a few hours so she was all warm and happy, IAT started @ 82 @3000 BY 3300 It dropped 1* and then climbed to 93* by 6400 (built full boost instentaneously) not bad !!! Bob
