Default finally dynod Turbotech

Not Harlans numbers but my goal was 450rwhp and I made it so I am happy. 471rwhp at 4900 rpms. I am getting "something" that causes me to drop 50 hp at 5000 rpms and then it recovers by 5500. I have yet to figure that out. Also the a/f rose leaner on several of my dynos at the 5000-5500 hp dip. The one dyno where it didnt dip I held a flat hp line across those rpms. Any ideas? It did that on 5 of my 6 dynos. Number 5 did not for some reason. The max torque was 542rwtq at 3700. This was thru open exhaust. Thru the hooker catback it was 439rwhp/508rwtq. This was done on a dynoject and it is sae. I got the files and would love for some of you tuning oriented guys to see what could be causing the dip. I tuned a/f to 12.0 and this was 7.5 psi. I know its not the bigdawg numbers you guys put out but the kits sell used pretty cheaply and I think its an excellent value for some of us on a tight budget. Any input/flames/help are welcomed. The file viewer and files from my dyno are here:

Dammitboy--you are banned from SDR!

Jerry--Absolutely fantastic numbers--Lightnings(at least mine) will stand by in awe. Glad you got that home-made rocket workin'!

See you on the 26th.

Thanx guys! Now if I could just drive like you guys. Chris did way better at the track on less power. I still need help figuring out that dip on 5/6 of my dynos. I'm hoping someone has come across this problem before.

Excellent numbers!!! Your torque is awsome... Do you know what level of smoothing they used on the graphs?? I know the standard on Dynojet is 3.
BTW that viewer is awsome..
Also what kinda money would a guy expect to pay for a turbotech setup like yours on an LS1 Camaro?? Thanks Jason

I bought mine used from Mightymouse and have seen 3 others for sale since for 3000-3500. Dunno about the smoothing as I was too nervous....I was in enemy territory surrounded by at least 25 mustangs but it felt good to represent for the ls1

Very nice

a few more psi and you're there

Judging by the graphs, my guess on the dip is good old knock retard.

Any ATAP data??

Did they record boost?

The quick drop in power, then the ramp back in is the response you see from KR

and, peak HP at 4900 is because it pulled timing there. No KR, and more RWHP

That is my guess anyway

Harlan you are right. I went back and looked at my logs and thats it. 3.9 deg of KR. I'm gonna have to get that KO box as I have always had KR no matter what boost/timing/fuel I use. Heck I got 4 deg once in the staging beams waiting for the tree. I didnt think 3.9 degrees would make that much difference but it certainly does. I ran on 100 octane as well. The wideband info was what I was really after. I'm wondering if an LS6 intake would allow me to keep this power level but say with .5-1 psi less boost? Harlan do you run stock Maf? thats what I'm running and wondered if a ported maf with appropriate maft changes would help flow. I'd like to get back to 6 psi and run pump gas all the time if I can.

100 octane huh??

What were the timing numbers?

It took 2-3 degress off stock to run 94 at 7 psi for me, and 100 octane on the same tune to go to 10 psi

Yep, stock untouched MAF. Right down to the screen.

When i added the LS6 manifold, i saw some upper RPM increase. not much midrange though. Doubt it'll let you lower the boost much. But it'll help the fall off after 5000

Yeah 100 octane...just like you. If you can't beat 'em .....try to emulate 'em My timing is set at 24 degrees...down 5 from stock. I was running 16.5 with the other pcm I have and still got the exact same KR with 100 octane. I may try both pcms at the track Sunday. I thought about disconnecting the KR sensor at the track Sunday and see how she sounds and runs that way.
The turbotech kit is obviously not as effecient as the incon so i'm thinking you could make the same numbers with 5-6 psi. Is that about right?
Next I want to tackle boost loss between gears. I had a neat check valve in loop with the boost controller that let me keep 1-2psi even with my slow *** shifting but the check valve couldnt handle the boost and it blew out.

wonderful dude! im glad to see it worked out for you... much better than it did with me.. its amazing to see you pick up so much without the cat-back.. i guess u better just leave that thing off.

I ran mine at the track with open exhaust and with my random tech and it never seemed to change anything.

Thanks David. My probs have always been about lack of fuel....not leaness really....just volume.
Then I was way rich....being safe till I got to the dyno. Now if I can make it produce at the track....which we all know I cant with stock rear and nittos. I am now waiting for ls1edit as I'd lack to ramp my timing down at peak cylinder pressure and then back up.....just like Harlan. I have learned most everything from the tidbits of info he drops here and there. I'm gonna get the dynomax ultraflo muffler and swap it with the hooker thats on the car now and the power cutout.
I wanted to get the ls6 intake and a cam but now I think I'm just going to get the intake...918 springs and save up for a rear. I'm happy with 450+ rwhp thru the exhaust. i think the intake and muffler will get me that. I can honestly now say that a wideband woulda saved me about 3 months worth of trial/error tuning on the street. Hopefully this thing will last awhile. Until i get "done" I'm gonna run 100 octane and try to keep the boost under 8psi. I would like to see what 10psi feels like but I have too much timing for that I think.

I had Ed Wright do my computer. I think ideally you'd like about 20-21 degrees of timing at WOT with this kit.

Yeah still stock motor. I think the turbotech exhaust setup is the roadblock in the whole setup but there's not a lot you can do about it as far as I see. Course if I could ever put all that to the ground, I'd be much happier with my times. Just gotta keep practicing I guess. It sux to know I'd get my *** handed to me by most of the people here with 100 less hp but in honesty I can't afford to go any faster right now. (12/9- bolt and slicks)You ever run at Steele? I get way better traction there on a SUNDAY t-n-t than I ever get at SDR.
