Default Turbo mounted under passengers seat!

Some of you may have read the post I posted sometime ago about why not mount the turbo under the car. Well Its mounted and just have the intake tubing and intercooler to fabricate. I sent Justin some pics I think he has some web space to host the pics on. When he reads this he can post the pics.

Well its a T70 looking at all the spec on this turbo it is capabled of supporting 600 plus hp. just depends on what boost pressure your engine can take.

see chart below for info. This turbo is capable of putting out 84lbs of air per min.
If the engine could handle 25lb of boost with a intercooler efficency of 75% it would make 900hp. That gets me thinking of the old days! Now let me see Hum 6.0 liter block, steel 6.0 heads, get the block "o'ring. Stud it bottom and top. Alluminum manifold, 25 psi of boost. Humm Dam! how do I get so off track?

WOW! That is pretty impressive! I can't wait to see the intake plumbing. Think there will be any problems with the excessive length from the compressor to the throttle body?
Nice.

all that loooooooooooooooong piping is bound to introduce some lag, and the turbo itself is kind of in a vulnerable position...
Still, FWIW, it's original thinking

What kind of pumps are you going to use for the oil Should be interesting if they did it but you will have to pump the oil back to the pan and have to have one serious pump to get it to the turbo.

Has the idea been scrapped?

Longer tubing will not and can not put lag into the system

Keep in mind that a lot of factors come into play when talking about lag but in general I think all that extra tubing will hinder the performance of the turbo.

Why? Longer tubing introduces more friction into the system. Especially with larger diameter tubing as it exposes more surface area. Bends also introduce parasitic losses into duct flow. Because there is more ducting there is a larger volume of air that the turbo has to push. This will also affect its performance. These are proven empirical facts.
