Cool! Let me know what you come up with for rods.
You going to do anything to your Main bolts? Head studs for sure, eh? Any special gaskets?

I'm going down this route also but after lower CR. I cc'd a 6.0 truck head (aluminium) at 78cc. I also cc'd a vette head at 76cc. What I thought was interesting is that the truck head appeared to have a thicker deck or maybe the valves are recessed deeper into the chamber. I havn't measured from the deck to the valve but there is a difference of 2cc. It was a damaged surplus truck head so maybe it wasn't fully machined.

I've been trying to figure out the 6.0L CC too.. Looks like LS1 heads are ~67cc & the 6.0L Alum heads ~71cc. Thx to Harlan for confirming the 6.0L CC.

Leaning towards a custom JE Piston & Eagle 4340 Billet Steel H-Beam 6.125" Rod. $499 @ JEGS. I won't have any block clearancing issues with a Stock crank, eh?

Why don't you just buy my long block? See killer deal in other post.

Looking for a lower cost but not lower quality piston for a forged setup for FI.

Also want to lower my compression about .5 with the pistons. Looking at using 6.0L truck heads which will also lower stock C/R.

Looking at stock rods w/ARP bolts for now. Rod recc's would be cool also. Want to keep costs down to earth.

TIA!

You seem to be looking in the similar direction as me <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

I was just running the numbers for what i'd like to do

.005 hone for 3.905 bore, stock stroke, stock or slightly less deck clearance. Not sure if i want to stay w/ the .006 "out of the hole" clearance or not. 6.0L heads w/ minimal to no chamber work.

a 10 cc dish would put you right under 9:1, keep the pistons in the hole and you drop to 8.8:1 or so.

Still not sure on the manufacturer, I'm leaning toward JE though. But i'm looking at a 6.125 rod, so custom compression height is what i'll need.

I think you'll need to have them made for any setup due to the bore. But i believe LS1motorsports has a setup for sale that uses stock rods.

Awesome setup!

I think I'm going to put everything together myself on a budget. Wish I could afford your engine. It's a good setup & price. Mine will be built slowly as the wallet can handle over the next 3 months.

Possibly, but I'm starting with a brand new block.. so probably don't want to hone, ie: $ & keeping cyl material for future rebuild.

I'm sure someone with a used engine that needs to re-hone will want them. If you have the wrist pin info, that'd be cool, & price.

If I don't sell my motor, I may just change out the pistons. Would you be interested in them?

Ross Forged 9:1 with 3.910 bore size (.010 over stock bore)
