Default what did i mess up

Missed a gear but didnt get into the rev limiter. Pulled the drivers side pushrods and they are fine. It has a miss...no ticking....no smoking...no overheating. I drove it back from Steele to Atlanta (160 miles) and it didnt change.
I pulled drivers side because b1strims were showing +25% while b2strims bounced around 0%. My thoughts were that a pushrod was bent on the intake valve on one of the drivers side cylinders thus creating the lean condition. While it was running I unplugged the injectors one by one and number 3 was the only one that didnt create more missing so it seems thats the dead cylinder. Now I've got to determine if its the injector or something else. I pulled the plug and think it looks lean but I need to pull another to compare. These are new 38# injectors ..about 3 months old. What else would you check? I thought I'd put the pushrods back in....pull off plug wires to that side....turn over the engine and see if number 3 was wet with gas....is there a better/easier way to check if the injectoring is spraying?

do a compression check asap on all 8 cylinders.
then you'll have a much better idea where to go from there.

My guess is a broken valve spring. Can happen at any time.

Why don't you just try swapping the injector with one from the other side and see if the strim condition changes...

MUTHAFU%%&$K My Ed wright PCM has the check engine light on for "cps relearn procedure" Has had it since day one. Autotap wouldnt show any misfires with this pcm. Swap in my other one and boom ....many misfires on cylinders 1 and 3..especially at idle. Probably something simple like coils or plugs. Sux since I pulled all pushrods off that side and the plugs. Plugs looked ok ...maybe a little lean but anyway...i did a compression check earlier on cyls 3-5-7 and they were all at 180. Didnt check #1 but I will do that tomorrow after taking out plugs again. WOnder if my coils started breaking down since they are closest to the turbo. Will update tomorrow on whats probably a simple problem

If you have a broken spring on #1, you will get misfires for the entire side usually.

Now I dont know wtf to try. Swapped...wires..coils...put in new plugs AND crank position sensor...still many misfires on #1 and 3 at idle. Sometimes they missfire together up to about 70 and then go to zero for a few secs and start over. ANY ideas as I'm at wits end here...still no codes being thrown and it clears up after about 2000 rpms....this is driving me nuts. I checked pushrods as well. All cylinders check ay 180psi

cablebandit

I've seen guys post before about cylinders 1+3 showing misfires. It ended up being a broken valvespring everytime.

Thats where I would focus my attention.

Hope that helps.

I would think a broken valve spring would show up more after idle...I rawdawged this car all the way back from steele (150 miles) Wouldnt it miss alot going down the road if it were a valve spring?

How did you "check" the springs? Unless you removed them, you may miss it. I looked for 3 weeks before I finally took off the spring and found it was broken. Don't say it isn't broken until you've removed it and checked.

Your stock springs broke? I have never heard of that. Still....wouldnt a valve spring show up at speeds above idle as well or did yours not do this. Noone else notices my cars idle as its not very rough....just me and no flashing lights etc.
We just eyeballed the springs...rotated them and pressed on them while they are on the head. I'm convinced it would idle worse if it were a valve spring but who knows at this point.

Bad O2 sensor maybe?
You typically running too rich? Fuel can kill them..

A bad spring normally shows up on the opposite side, ie: Cyls' 1 and 2, not 1 & 3 in my exp..
