When is the aluminum block

Default When is the aluminum block

No longer strong enough to be reliable. Not for a race car, but a street car.

800 rwhp?? 900 rwhp??

No one really knows for sure i make 1000 hp a the crank and im still on the stock mains and bolts with the aluminium block, and have been over 800 for two years and never had any problem at all but other people have so i dont think youll get a straight answer. If you were going to build one though you might as well go iron block, weight differance is minimal and they have been proven way past 900hp.

I took a 5.3 block to HPE to have built, they had never done a 5.3 bored out to a 5.7 before, but they took some measurement and said taht the wall thickness would be greater than that on a bowtie block, or some of the highpo block.

they also said that no one they know of has borken the block from power, just like most say about the stock crank.

its always a certain gamble, it pays off for alot, but put the wrong tune on it and your guarenteed a boom

I'm asking for a friend. He has 785 rwhp now, but was thinking about going turbo and getting 900-950 rwhp. A certain sponsor told him 800-900 is as high as they would wanna go with the stock block??

That's actually pretty crazy... I may actually make a thread about this if it doesn't get a lot of attention in here (I'll do a search before I do though ) I wouldn't have ever thought a bored 5.3->5.7 would have thicker walls than a 5.7...

Since it has thicker walls, is that a valid reason to choose a bored out 5.3 over a 5.7?

Harlan went over 1000hp for quite awhile on stock block and crank. There are a few people in the 8's on the stock block.
